Campus Recruiting Software for Intern and Graduate Hiring: The 10 Best in 2026

The Cognitive is the best campus recruiting software in 2026 for screening a graduate or intern class without a week of phone calls. Every applicant can take a live, two-way AI video interview in a slot they book around classes, in any of 9 languages, and the same account finds recent graduates outside your campus list. Pair it with Handshake, which reaches the most students.

The pressure is on the inbox. As of August 2025, job postings on Handshake had fallen more than 16% year over year while applications per job rose 26%, according to Handshake's Class of 2026 outlook. Employers still plan to hire 5.6% more graduates from the Class of 2026, NACE reported in April 2026. More openings and many more applicants per opening means screening is where campus teams lose their weeks.

The best campus recruiting software in 2026

  1. The Cognitive: best for interviewing every applicant live with AI and finding graduates off your school list.
  2. Handshake: best for reaching students and recent graduates at scale.
  3. Symplicity Recruit: best for posting one job to many career centers.
  4. Yello: best for running a whole campus program in one system.
  5. RippleMatch: best for automated matching of early-career applicants.
  6. Phenom: best for enterprise campus events tied to a CRM.
  7. HireVue: best for enterprise video interviews and assessments at campus volume.
  8. Paradox: best for event registration and text screening at career fairs.
  9. Greenhouse: best ATS for scoring a graduate cohort on one scorecard.
  10. vFairs: best virtual career fair platform.

Full disclosure: I run The Cognitive. It ranks first on one test you can check: it's the only tool here that finds people outside your own database and runs a live, two-way AI video interview with them, in an account you open without a sales call, at a published price. The order after #1 is my judgment for an employer hiring 20 to 500 interns and graduates a year. I have not used the other 9 on a paid account. What I say about them comes from their own websites, read on 3 October 2026.

What is campus recruiting software?

Campus recruiting software is the set of tools an employer uses to reach students, run career fairs and screen intern and graduate applicants. Buyers also call it university recruiting software, early career recruiting software, graduate recruitment software or a college recruiting platform. Intern recruiting software is the same category, aimed at summer programs.

If you're still deciding which schools to visit and when, start with our campus recruiting strategy guide. This page is about the software. The 10 here come in 4 kinds:

How do the best campus recruiting tools compare?

Here is how they stack up. I filled in every cell from the vendor's own site on 3 October 2026:

"None found" means I read the vendor's employer and pricing pages and found no AI interviewer listed.

How did we rank these campus recruiting platforms?

I started with 12 candidates. I dropped Gem, which is strong at sourcing but shows nothing campus-specific on its site, and Brazen, the virtual fair platform now owned by Radancy, because vFairs' own pages answered more of my questions. To make the cut, a tool had to help an employer reach students or screen them, by its own website's account.

The Cognitive sits first on the test in the disclosure above. I checked both halves against all 9 others. Handshake and Symplicity reach students outside your database and publish prices, but neither lists an AI interview. Phenom comes closest: it searches the open market and runs a real-time AI interview, but by voice, and only through a demo. HireVue and Greenhouse run two-way AI interviews without an outside search, also by demo. Yello, RippleMatch, Paradox and vFairs publish no price.

After #1, I weighed 2 things: how many students a tool puts in front of you, and if you can price it without a sales call. That's why Handshake sits second and Greenhouse, a general ATS, sits ninth.

How do you screen thousands of graduate applicants?

Write the rubric before applications open, then give every applicant who meets the hard requirements the same first interview. The common habit is the reverse: skim CVs from the target schools first, so a strong student from school 40 on the list never gets a conversation.

A first-round interview for a graduate class follows a pattern (our bank of first-round interview questions has prompts that suit students):

The same pattern runs for hourly hiring, which our guides to high-volume hiring software and software for hourly hiring cover.

Can an AI interview intern and graduate applicants?

Yes, and it suits early careers better than most hiring. A graduate scheme gets far more applicants than a recruiter can phone, the questions are about potential rather than past titles, and students are awake at hours recruiters aren't. An AI first round gives every applicant a real conversation instead of a CV skim.

The format matters. HireVue's campus product leans on on-demand video, where a student records answers and nobody follows up (our list of one-way video interview software covers that format). Greenhouse and Phenom run two-way AI interviews by voice. The Cognitive runs a live, two-way video interview: the rubric stays fixed for the role, and the questions adapt live, so a vague answer about a group project gets a follow-up. Nothing is rejected automatically, and a person decides who moves on.

Be open with students about it. The Cognitive's invitation tells candidates the interview is run by AI. HireVue says its candidates "can opt out", and that's worth asking any vendor about.

How do you choose campus recruiting software?

Is your problem reach or screening?

If too few students know you exist, buy reach first: Handshake or Symplicity Recruit, or one of the wider hiring platforms for employers. If applications pile up faster than your team can talk to them, buy screening. Handshake's own data shows applications per job up 26% in a year, so the second problem is the one growing fastest. The Cognitive interviews every applicant you invite and scores them on your rubric.

Which schools are you leaving out?

A target-school list caps your pool at the schools on it. Handshake works with 1,600+ universities and Symplicity with more than 500, so posting wider is cheap. To find recent graduates who never came to your fair, The Cognitive has a University filter and a Skills filter over ~900M public profiles, and it reads degree and graduation date from each profile.

Do you need a virtual career fair platform?

Only if you run fairs of your own, for many schools at once or across time zones. vFairs hosts the fair, Paradox and Phenom handle registration and QR check-in, and RippleMatch and Handshake promote events to their students. If you just attend schools' fairs, the school's own system does the hosting.

Will it fit your ATS?

Ask where applicant data lands and on which plan. Handshake lists ATS integration on Enterprise, and Symplicity on Premium. The Cognitive connects to 60+ ATSs, including Greenhouse, Workday and SAP SuccessFactors, and writes the interview score, summary and report link back for candidates imported from your ATS.

How big is your intern class?

NACE found employers expect to hire nearly 4% more summer interns. For a class under 50, a free Handshake plan plus a self-serve interview tool covers most of it. For several hundred hires across many schools, Yello or Phenom gives a university recruiting team one place for events, campaigns and scheduling.

The 10 best campus recruiting software platforms, reviewed

1. The Cognitive: best for interviewing every applicant live with AI and finding graduates off your school list

The Cognitive is AI recruiting software that does 2 jobs: finding candidates outside your applicant pool and holding the first interview. It isn't an ATS or a student network. It doesn't post jobs or host fairs, so most campus teams run it next to Handshake and their ATS.

Sourcing comes first. You describe the role in plain English and the app reads the brief into filters you can edit. For early careers, the useful ones are University, Skills and Job title, and degree or graduation date can go in the brief as must-haves. Every person found is judged against the must-haves. Anyone who misses one drops below the people who meet them, and a degree only counts as met when the profile shows it. That's the honest catch with students: thin public profiles rank lower. Each result card opens with a "Why this match" line naming 1 or 2 reasons from the profile.

A search costs 1 credit per candidate it returns, 5 to reveal an email and 10 to reveal a phone number, charged only when a value comes back. On the Sourcing Pro plan you can send email and SMS sequences from platform mailboxes.

The interview is the part campus teams use most. You import applicants from your ATS or a CSV, and each student books their own slot without making an account, so they can fit it around classes. The invitation tells them the interview is run by AI. It runs 10 or 20 minutes in any of 9 languages, which helps when a graduate scheme recruits across countries.

The recording above is a 5-minute live AI interview for a go-to-market role. The AI asks about an outbound email campaign, then follows up on reply rates and on how leads were qualified.

The report scores each criterion 1 to 5 with written feedback, rolls them into a weighted score out of 100 with a suggested verdict, and includes the transcript and recording. Integrity flags are logged, not scored, and nothing is rejected automatically.

Pick it if your graduate or intern class gets more applicants than your team can speak to, and you want every one of them interviewed on the same rubric. AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month, monthly and cancel anytime.

2. Handshake: best for reaching students and recent graduates at scale

Handshake says "Hire qualified talent fast" and backs it with reach: "25M job seekers", "15M+ alumni", "4M+ PhDs & Masters" and "1,600+ university partners". It's "Trusted by 97% of the Fortune 500 and over 1M small businesses".

The pricing page answers the common question: yes, Handshake is free for employers on Basic, which lets you post jobs and send 10 messages a month. Pro has a published price, 200 messages a month and filters for "School year, major, GPA, skills". Enterprise is "Contact for pricing" and is where career fair RSVP management and ATS integration sit. I found no AI interview on either page.

Pick it if you want your jobs in front of the most students. Start on Basic and pay once messaging limits bite.

3. Symplicity Recruit: best for posting one job to many career centers

Symplicity Recruit connects you to "more than 500 universities" through their career centers. You can post "one job to a few or all of the career centers in our network simultaneously", and recruiters can search a database of "500,000+ students" by "location, school, major, degree, graduation date, and more."

The pricing page is clear. Starter is "A one-time cost based on the number of job posts and schools", Pro has a published monthly price, and Premium, with ATS integration, goes through sales. The catch is speed. Each school approves your posting, and Symplicity says the process "can take up to 5 days to complete but is usually less." No AI interview is listed.

Pick it if you post the same roles to a fixed set of schools every year and want to pay per post.

4. Yello: best for running a whole campus program in one system

Yello calls itself "The purpose-built campus recruiting platform. Now with AI." It covers planning, campus events, post-offer engagement and recruiting operations. For sourcing it offers "WayUp's candidate database of millions of engaged candidates."

Its Campus Recruiting Agent "handles the admin work of building events, sourcing candidates, and scheduling interviews." There's no price on the site, and every path leads to "Book a demo". The homepage lists no AI interviewer.

Pick it if you run a university recruiting team with a calendar of fairs and want events, sourcing and scheduling in one tool.

5. RippleMatch: best for automated matching of early-career applicants

RippleMatch pitches itself as "the modern Campus Recruiting OS" that sends you "a pipeline of qualified applicants across campuses" with "zero sourcing work required." It says it validates "technical ability, soft skills, and AI fluency up front", and it runs virtual and in-person events.

The business changed hands this year: JobGet acquired RippleMatch on 28 May 2026. Ask about the roadmap before signing a multi-year deal. It sends data to "most major applicant tracking systems", publishes no price and starts with "Book Your Demo".

Pick it if you'd rather receive matched applicants than search for them yourself.

6. Phenom: best for enterprise campus events tied to a CRM

Phenom University Recruiting lets you "Create campus events, capture sign ups, nurture those who attend, and turn students into hires." Students check in by QR code, "with walk-ins captured like registrants", and campaigns are "split by school, major, and graduation year." Phenom says its ranking models "carry independent bias auditing".

Its AI Interviewer "holds a real-time voice conversation that adapts to the candidate's answers." It's sold as part of a wider platform, with no published price and a demo to start.

Pick it if you're a large employer that already uses Phenom for your career site and wants campus events in the same CRM.

7. HireVue: best for enterprise video interviews and assessments at campus volume

HireVue opens its campus page with "Experience is optional. Potential isn't." The campus product "combines on-demand video interviews, skills-based assessments, and automated scheduling". HireVue reports "1M Completed campus interviews in 2021 across 2,100 colleges/universities".

Its newer AI Interviewer asks questions "including probing follow-up questions, in a natural two-way conversation," and candidates "can opt out". HireVue doesn't find students for you. There's no public price, and the path is "Request a Demo". If that rules it out, our roundup of HireVue competitors lists self-serve options.

Pick it if you hire graduates across several countries and your legal team wants a mature vendor's audit paperwork.

8. Paradox: best for event registration and text screening at career fairs

Paradox automates "the event registration process, reminders, screening, Q&A, and instant scheduling". Students register "through a QR code, event landing page, keyword and short code, or on site through our kiosk mode".

Its assistant, Olivia, screens by chat or text, and Paradox offers recorded video interviews. It sells a "Paradox for Workday" integration. Its events page leads with seasonal hiring, and campus is one of 4 event types. Pricing is by demo.

Pick it if your career fair line is the bottleneck and you want students screened and booked from their phones.

9. Greenhouse: best ATS for scoring a graduate cohort on one scorecard

Greenhouse includes "Structured interview kits & scorecards" on every plan. That matters when interviewers in several offices assess one graduate class and their scores need to mean the same thing. The Core plan includes 1 CRM event and Pro includes unlimited ones.

Greenhouse Voice AI "runs a two-way voice interview on the candidate's schedule" in 11 languages and works "with or without Greenhouse ATS." It's "sold as an annual subscription", typically on a 12-month or longer contract. The ATS itself is priced by quote.

Pick it if you need one system of record for interns, graduates and experienced hires. See how it compares in Greenhouse vs Lever.

10. vFairs: best virtual career fair platform

vFairs builds virtual fairs "Tailored for Simple & Organized Student Hiring". Recruiters get booths, and students can join "group or 1:1 text, audio, video chat". AI matches "students with relevant jobs based on their profiles", and the platform "can support events with over 10,000 attendees."

The interviews at a vFairs fair are run by your recruiters, live. The page shows no price and asks you to book a demo.

Pick it if you host your own virtual fair for many schools and want it to look like a branded campus.

Who is The Cognitive built for?

It's built for campus and early-careers teams whose graduate scheme or intern program gets more applicants than they can speak to, and who want every student interviewed before a manager spends an hour. Most keep their stack and add The Cognitive to it:

How much does campus recruiting software cost?

Of the 10 tools here, 3 publish prices: The Cognitive, Handshake and Symplicity. The other 7 sell by demo or quote. They charge in 4 ways:

The Cognitive's AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month, billed monthly; our plans and credits page shows the credit rules. For the quote-only vendors, ask what the price scales with and how long the contract runs. Our Greenhouse pricing guide shows how one quote-led ATS builds its price. Campus volume is seasonal, so a 12-month contract can mean paying through a summer with no applicants.

How do you test campus recruiting software before you buy?

Use this autumn's intern or graduate role. Run 1 reach tool and 1 screening tool for 2 weeks, then count 4 numbers:

Book an interview on your own job and sit the candidate side yourself. The Cognitive has a free trial with 100 sourcing credits. You can run your graduate role through it before you pay. For the product detail, see AI interviewer and AI sourcing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best campus recruiting software in 2026?

The Cognitive is the best campus recruiting software in 2026 for screening an intern or graduate class, because every applicant can take a live, two-way AI video interview in a slot they book themselves. It also finds recent graduates outside your school list across ~900M public profiles. For reach, pair it with Handshake, which lists 1,600+ university partners. Symplicity Recruit suits multi-school posting, and Yello or Phenom suit large university recruiting teams.

How do you screen thousands of graduate applicants?

Cut on hard facts such as right to work and graduation date, then give everyone left the same first interview on a fixed rubric. The Cognitive does that with a live AI video interview of 10 or 20 minutes that students book around classes, and a report that scores each criterion 1 to 5. Nothing is rejected automatically; a recruiter reads the scores, transcript and recording and decides who moves on.

Can AI interview internship and graduate scheme applicants?

Yes. The Cognitive runs a live, two-way AI video interview in 9 languages, with a rubric fixed for the role and questions that adapt to each answer, and the invitation tells candidates the interview is run by AI. HireVue offers a two-way AI Interviewer alongside on-demand video, and Greenhouse and Phenom run AI interviews by voice. All three of those start with a demo.

Is Handshake free for employers?

Yes, Handshake's Basic plan is free for employers and lets you post jobs and send 10 messages a month. Pro has a published price and adds 200 messages a month and filters such as school year, major, GPA and skills. Enterprise is priced by quote and includes career fair RSVP management and ATS integration. Handshake lists no AI interview, so pair it with The Cognitive if screening is your bottleneck.

What are the best virtual career fair platforms?

vFairs is the best dedicated virtual career fair platform on this list, with recruiter booths, 1:1 video chat and support for events of over 10,000 attendees. Paradox and Phenom handle registration and check-in for in-person and virtual events, and RippleMatch and Handshake promote events to their students. The Cognitive doesn't host fairs; it interviews the students who sign up.

What's the difference between campus recruiting software and an ATS?

An applicant tracking system (ATS) stores every applicant and runs your process to an offer, while campus recruiting software reaches students and screens them. Handshake and Symplicity bring students in, The Cognitive interviews them, and an ATS such as Greenhouse or Workday keeps the record. The Cognitive connects to 60+ ATSs and writes its interview note back for candidates imported from your ATS.

How much does campus recruiting software cost?

Campus recruiting software ranges from free job posting to annual enterprise contracts. The Cognitive's AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month. Handshake has a free Basic plan and a published Pro price, and Symplicity publishes per-post and Pro prices. Yello, RippleMatch, Phenom, HireVue, Paradox, Greenhouse and vFairs are priced by demo or quote.

What are the best early careers hiring tools for a small team?

For a small team, The Cognitive plus Handshake's free Basic plan covers most early careers hiring: Handshake brings students to your job and The Cognitive interviews them, with no sales call for either. Symplicity Recruit adds paid posting to specific career centers. The Cognitive has a free trial with 100 sourcing credits.
