Interview Intelligence Platforms for Human and AI-Led Interviews: 10 Picks for 2026
By Sparsh Goyal, Founder at The Cognitive. Published · Last updated
- Top picks: The Cognitive for teams that want the first round run and analysed, Metaview for notes on every platform, BrightHire for larger teams, and Greenhouse or Ashby if you already run them.
- The Cognitive leads for that one job because it holds a live, two-way AI video interview and returns per-criterion scores, the transcript, the recording and resume claim checks at a published price.
- For your own human interviews, pick a notetaker such as Metaview or BrightHire, or Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai on a small budget.
- I run The Cognitive. The other 9 are judged from their own websites, read on 4 October 2026.
The best interview intelligence platform in 2026 depends on who runs the interview. For your own human interviews, Metaview is the strongest notetaker, with BrightHire close behind for larger teams. For teams that want the first round run and analysed in one place, I put The Cognitive first: it holds a live, two-way AI video interview and returns the recording, transcript, scores and resume claim checks.
In a Gartner survey of 3,000 job candidates in the second quarter of 2025, 6% admitted to interview fraud, either posing as someone else or having someone else pose as them. Gartner also predicts that by 2028, 1 in 4 candidate profiles worldwide will be fake. A record of what was actually said, and a check of it against the resume, is now part of basic hiring hygiene.
The best interview intelligence platforms in 2026
- The Cognitive: best for teams that want the first round run and analysed, with a live AI video interview and resume claim checks.
- Metaview: best notetaker for human interviews on any platform, including phone and in person.
- BrightHire: best for larger teams that want interview intelligence plus an async AI screen.
- Greenhouse Notetaker: best if Greenhouse is already your ATS.
- Ashby AI Notetaker: best for Ashby customers who want feedback drafted with references.
- Employ AI Interview Companion (formerly Pillar): best for live interviewer guidance inside Lever, Jobvite or JazzHR.
- Screenloop: best for an ATS with interview intelligence included.
- HireLogic: best for staffing and RPO teams recording phone, video and in-person interviews.
- Otter.ai: best low-cost notetaker for a small team.
- Fireflies.ai: best for transcripts in many languages across all your meetings.
Full disclosure: I run The Cognitive. Putting it first is my judgment for one job, and I'll say plainly that it's a different kind of product from the other 9. Most of them record interviews your team runs. The Cognitive runs the first-round interview itself, so it can't take notes on your own Zoom calls. If that's what you need, pair it with a notetaker from this list. I have not used the other 9 on a paid account. What I say about them comes from their own websites, read on 4 October 2026.
What is an interview intelligence platform?
An interview intelligence platform records an interview, transcribes it and turns it into notes, scorecard drafts and searchable evidence. Our interview intelligence explainer covers the definition in full.
The 10 tools fall into 3 groups:
- Recruiting notetakers. Metaview, BrightHire, HireLogic and Employ's companion join interviews your people run and map what was said to your scorecard.
- Notes built into an ATS. Greenhouse, Ashby and Screenloop record interviews scheduled inside their own applicant tracking system (ATS). Our list of applicant tracking system software compares those platforms as ATSs.
- General meeting notetakers. Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai transcribe any meeting, and recruiters use them for interviews too.
The Cognitive sits apart: it conducts the interview and produces the record. Metaview and BrightHire now straddle both sides, each selling an AI screen next to its notetaker.
How do the top interview intelligence tools compare?
Here is how they stack up. I filled in every cell from the vendor's own site on 4 October 2026:
| Tool | Best for | Which interviews it covers | Zoom, Teams and Meet? | ATS link | Price on website? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Cognitive | First round run and analysed | Its own live AI video interview | No, it runs the interview itself | 60+ ATS integrations | Yes |
| Metaview | Notes on every platform | Human interviews, plus an AI voice screen | Yes, plus Webex, phone and in person | Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday and others | Yes, per user |
| BrightHire | Larger teams | Human interviews, plus an async voice or video screen | Yes | Workday, iCIMS, Lever and others | No, custom |
| Greenhouse Notetaker | Greenhouse customers | Human video interviews, English transcripts | Yes, no phone or in person | Built into Greenhouse | No |
| Ashby AI Notetaker | Ashby customers | Human video interviews and debriefs | Yes, no phone | Built into Ashby | Add-on, no figure |
| Employ AI Interview Companion | Live interviewer guidance | Human interviews | Not named on its page | Lever, Jobvite, JazzHR | No |
| Screenloop | ATS with notes included | Human interviews, 35+ languages | Not named on the pages I read | Its own ATS | No |
| HireLogic | Staffing and RPO | Human interviews | Yes, plus phone and in person | "Via ATS", not named | Free signup, no figure seen |
| Otter.ai | Small teams | Any meeting | Yes | Greenhouse through Zapier | Yes, free plan |
| Fireflies.ai | Multilingual transcripts | Any meeting, 100+ languages | Yes, and more | Greenhouse, Lever, BambooHR | Yes, free plan |
How we ranked these 10
I started with 11 tools that come up when recruiters search "interview intelligence platform", "interview intelligence software" or "AI interview notes". A tool made the list only if its own site says it records or transcribes interviews and turns them into notes or scores. HireVue describes AI summaries and transcripts in its Interview Insights post, but the page doesn't say it records human interviews, and its product pages blocked my reader. Spark Hire's site did too. Both are left out rather than guessed at.
The Cognitive is first on one stated job: running the first round and analysing it in the same account. You can check what that rests on. It holds a live, two-way AI video interview at a slot the candidate books, returns per-criterion scores with written feedback, the transcript, the recording and a check of up to 5 resume claims, and publishes its price. Metaview and BrightHire also run AI first rounds, so I don't claim it's the only one. Metaview's screen is voice-first; BrightHire's is async voice or video with no published price.
For #2 to #10 I weighed 4 things: which meeting platforms the tool covers, whether notes land in your scorecard or ATS, how candidates are asked for consent, and whether you can buy without a sales call. That order is judgment. What I couldn't test: transcript accuracy. No vendor here, us included, publishes an accuracy benchmark against human notes.
Interview intelligence for human-led vs AI-led interviews
Human-led interview intelligence watches a conversation your team runs. A bot or desktop app joins the call, records it and drafts notes against the scorecard. You still spend an interviewer's hour per candidate, and you get a clean record and faster feedback for it.
AI-led interview intelligence starts one step earlier. The AI holds the interview, so the record and the scoring come out of the same system, and round 1 no longer costs an interviewer's hour per person.
Most teams end up with both. An AI-led first round decides who's worth an hour, and a notetaker covers the human rounds after it. A notetaker bought to fix a first-round bottleneck documents every screening call and leaves you with the same number of calls.
Metaview vs BrightHire vs Pillar: which should you pick?
Pick Metaview if your interviews happen everywhere: 4 video platforms, the phone and in person. It publishes per-user prices with a free plan, and it has grown into sourcing and an AI voice screen. Our Metaview review covers the notetaker on its own.
Pick BrightHire if you're a larger team that wants a sales-led rollout. It calls itself an "Interview Intelligence Platform" and sells BrightHire Screen for "automating first-round interviews". Pricing is custom.
Pillar is now Employ's AI Interview Companion. The old pillar.hr address redirects there, and the page reads "formerly Pillar". Pick it if you hire on Lever, Jobvite or JazzHR and want prompts during the interview. If you are leaving that ATS family instead, see our list of Jobvite alternatives. It will "Guide interviewers, live in the interview" and "Serve recommended skills-based questions", which neither of the other 2 leads with.
Does interview intelligence work with Zoom, Teams and Google Meet?
Yes, for almost every notetaker here. Metaview, BrightHire, Greenhouse, Ashby, HireLogic, Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai all name Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet on their own pages. Employ's companion and Screenloop didn't name platforms on the pages I read, so ask them.
Phone and in-person interviews split the list. Greenhouse says "In-person and phone-based interviews are not supported", and Ashby's docs say interviews with a phone or custom location "are not recorded". Metaview and HireLogic cover both. If a third of your screens are phone calls, that line decides it.
The Cognitive doesn't join your Zoom, Teams or Meet calls at all. The candidate takes the AI interview inside The Cognitive, from the invitation link.
How do you choose interview intelligence software?
Start by counting first-round hours. If a recruiter runs 15 phone screens a week, a notetaker saves the typing but keeps the 15 calls. Then these 4 questions sort the list.
Do you need interview recording and transcription software, or scored evidence?
Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai give you recordings, transcripts and summaries for any meeting. Metaview, BrightHire, Greenhouse, Ashby and Screenloop map answers onto your scorecard, which is what a hiring manager actually reads. The Cognitive scores each criterion from 1 to 5 with written feedback and adds a weighted score out of 100.
How will you catch a candidate who isn't who they say?
Gartner found 6% of 3,000 candidates admitted to interview fraud. Metaview's screen flags responses "likely AI-assisted or fraudulent". The Cognitive logs integrity flags without scoring them, and marks up to 5 resume claims as VERIFIED, REFUTED or UNCLEAR with evidence from the interview. Our checklist of practices that catch candidate fraud in remote hiring covers the steps around the interview.
Where do the notes land?
Greenhouse, Ashby and Screenloop keep them inside the ATS. Metaview posts to your ATS record, while Otter.ai reaches Greenhouse through Zapier. The Cognitive writes a note with the score, summary and report link back to candidates imported from your ATS. People you sourced inside The Cognitive aren't written into the ATS automatically.
Will candidates accept it?
Only 26% of candidates trust AI to evaluate them fairly, according to the same Gartner survey. So say what's recorded and why, early. Greenhouse and Ashby ask for consent at scheduling, and The Cognitive's invitation tells candidates the interview is run by AI.
Interview intelligence and recording consent
None of this is legal advice. Recording an interview is a consent question first. US federal law allows recording with the consent of 1 party, but the Digital Media Law Project lists 11 states that require every party's consent, including California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Washington. Hiring across states or countries means planning for the strictest rule.
Greenhouse lets candidates opt out at scheduling, though its FAQ says there's no opt-in consent inside the feature yet. Ashby disables recording when a candidate hasn't consented. Metaview sets "candidate opt-out language per jurisdiction" and retention windows, and Greenhouse keeps recordings up to 60 days.
An AI interviewer adds a second question, because the AI evaluates as well as records. New York City's Local Law 144 asks for a bias audit and candidate notice for automated employment decision tools. The Cognitive doesn't have a published bias audit, and a person makes every decision. Our Local Law 144 guide covers what the rule asks of employers.
The 10 best interview intelligence platforms, reviewed
1. The Cognitive: best for teams that want the first round run and analysed
The Cognitive is AI recruiting software that sources candidates across ~900M public profiles and interviews them live with AI. For this list, the interview is the part that matters: it conducts the first round and produces the intelligence from it.
You invite candidates one by one or in bulk. They book their own slot without an account, and the invitation tells them the interview is run by AI. The interview is a live, two-way AI video conversation of 10 or 20 minutes, in 1 of 9 languages. The rubric is fixed per role, and the questions adapt live to what each person says.
The 5-minute recording above is a live AI interview for a go-to-market role, recorded on 1 September 2026. The AI asks about an outbound email campaign, then follows up on reply rates and how leads were qualified. More on how it works on our AI interviewer page.
Afterwards you get a 1 to 5 score per criterion plus overall written feedback, a weighted score out of 100 and a suggested verdict. The transcript is timestamped turn by turn, and the recording sits next to it. Our guide to interview transcripts explains what to do with one once you have it. Up to 5 resume claims the AI chose to probe come back marked VERIFIED, REFUTED or UNCLEAR, with evidence from the interview. Nothing is rejected automatically, and integrity flags are logged, not scored.
You can share the report as a read-only link with scores, written feedback and the recording, though the transcript stays out of it. With 60+ ATS integrations, including Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday, a note with the score, summary and report link goes back to candidates imported from the ATS.
The trade-off: it can't record your own human interviews, and there's no phone or one-way mode. AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month, on monthly plans you can cancel anytime.
Pick it if your first round eats recruiter hours and you want every candidate heard and scored before a person spends an hour on them.

2. Metaview: best notetaker for human interviews on any platform
Metaview started as the AI interview notes tool and now calls itself "The Agentic Recruiting Platform". Its notetaker joins Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Zoom, takes phone interviews through the Metaview switchboard and works in person. Notes and completed scorecards post to the candidate's ATS record. You can take notes without a bot joining the call.
It also sells an AI Screening product: an AI voice call that "asks follow-ups", which candidates take "whenever suits them, on any device". Every call is "recorded, transcribed, and scored against your rubric". The limit for a notes-only buyer is direction: the product now spans sourcing, outreach and screening. Pricing is per user per month, published, with a free plan.
Pick it if your interviews happen on 4 video platforms, the phone and in person, and you want one notetaker for all of them.
3. BrightHire: best for larger teams that want interview intelligence plus an async AI screen
BrightHire sells AI Interview Notes and Interview Insights, and its pricing page lists Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. It claims "27% fewer interviews per hire" from its own study of 25,000+ candidates.
BrightHire Screen runs first rounds as "voice-only or video", and it's "Async so candidates respond anytime". It returns a ranking, scores, summaries, transcripts and audio playback. The limit is buying: tiers for Recruiters, Teams and Enterprises are custom-priced, with no figures on the site.
Pick it if you want an established interview intelligence vendor and a sales team to roll it out.
4. Greenhouse Notetaker: best if Greenhouse is already your ATS
Greenhouse Notetaker "Records and transcribes supported video interviews, then drafts structured notes and a summary that map to scorecard questions." Interviewers add the notes to the scorecard in one click. It's on Greenhouse's Core, Plus and Pro tiers, which our Greenhouse pricing guide breaks down.
The limits are written plainly in its security FAQ: phone and in-person interviews aren't supported, and "Transcription is currently supported in English only." Pricing goes through sales.
Pick it if you run Greenhouse, interview on video in English, and want nothing new to buy.
5. Ashby AI Notetaker: best for Ashby customers who want feedback drafted with references
Ashby's AI Notetaker "will automatically record, transcribe, and summarize your meetings with candidates". Its "Auto-fill with AI" drafts the feedback form, with "references to source content for you to review". It records debriefs too.
The docs cover Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, but not Teams GCC High or Zoom Gov, and interviews with a phone location "are not recorded". It's an add-on on Ashby's pricing page, with no figure shown for it.
Pick it if you hire on Ashby and want feedback you can trace back to what was said. If Ashby itself is the question, see our Ashby alternatives.
6. Employ AI Interview Companion (formerly Pillar): best for live interviewer guidance inside Lever, Jobvite or JazzHR
Employ's AI Interview Companion is the product buyers still search for as Pillar. It takes notes, collects feedback in real time and will "Guide interviewers, live in the interview" with skills-based questions. You can "Work directly in Lever with your assistant". Our Lever review covers the ATS it sits in.
The limit is fit: the page names Lever, Jobvite and JazzHR, Employ's own ATS family, and doesn't name meeting platforms or a price.
Pick it if you're on an Employ ATS and your interviewers need coaching during the call.
7. Screenloop: best for an ATS with interview intelligence included
Screenloop is "AI-native applicant tracking software" whose notetaker "Doesn't just take interview notes. It auto-fills scorecards." Its interview intelligence page says you can "interview in French, German and 35+ additional languages".
The catch is that interview intelligence comes with the ATS. Screenloop says choosing its ATS gets you the full Talent Ops Platform at no extra cost, so it's no use as a layer on Greenhouse. Prices go through a demo.
Pick it if you're replacing your ATS anyway and want notes, references and background checks in one system.
8. HireLogic: best for staffing and RPO teams recording phone, video and in-person interviews
HireLogic promises "AI-Powered Insights by Listening to any Interview". You dial its number into a phone call, invite it to Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, or open its companion app in person. For compliance teams, it flags "discriminatory or personal questions" for interviewer coaching.
The limit is detail. The site lists "Automated AI Interviews" without saying whether they're voice or video, doesn't name ATS partners, and offers a free signup without the prices I could find.
Pick it if your recruiters screen on the phone and want the same notes as video interviews.
9. Otter.ai: best low-cost notetaker for a small team
Otter.ai's Recruiting Agent sets out to "Turn interviews into hiring intelligence", with real-time transcription, keyword detection and post-interview summaries. It joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, and a desktop app records without a bot.
The limit: it's a general meeting tool, and its Greenhouse sync works through Zapier rather than a direct scorecard link. The pricing page shows a free plan and per-user paid plans.
Pick it if you're a team of 1 to 5 who want transcripts today without an ATS project.
10. Fireflies.ai: best for transcripts in many languages across all your meetings
Fireflies.ai will "Transcribe, summarize, search, and analyze all your team conversations", in 100+ languages. Its pricing page lists Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, and a Chrome extension records without a bot. Its integrations page includes Greenhouse, Lever and BambooHR.
The limit: I found no scorecard mapping, so interview notes arrive as meeting summaries. Plans are published per seat, with a free tier.
Pick it if you interview across many languages and also want one notetaker for sales and team calls.
Who is The Cognitive built for?
We built The Cognitive for recruiters whose first round is the bottleneck, such as in-house teams with more applicants than calendar and small agencies that want a candidate heard before they submit them. It works best on professional roles, where a 20-minute conversation tells you more than the resume.
It sits next to what you already run:
- Keep your ATS. Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby or Workday stays the system of record, and the interview note lands back on candidates you imported from it.
- Pair it with a notetaker. Use Metaview, BrightHire or your ATS's own notetaker for the human rounds after The Cognitive's first round.
How much does interview intelligence software cost?
Vendors charge in 4 ways:
- Published per-user plans with a free tier: Metaview, Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai.
- Inside an ATS plan or add-on: Greenhouse Notetaker on its Core, Plus and Pro tiers, Ashby's AI Notetaker add-on, and Screenloop with its ATS.
- Custom quote: BrightHire and Employ's AI Interview Companion.
- Monthly self-serve plans: The Cognitive, where AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month, cancel anytime.
HireLogic offers a free signup, but I couldn't find its paid plans. You can start The Cognitive with a free trial with 100 sourcing credits.
How do you test interview intelligence before you buy?
Record 5 real interviews with 2 tools side by side, with candidate consent, including a phone screen and a call with crosstalk. Hand both sets of notes to the hiring manager unlabelled and ask which one they'd decide from.
For an AI-led first round, use a role you've already filled. Invite 10 past applicants you know well and compare the scores and resume claim checks with what you learned the slow way. For more AI interviewers, our best AI interview platforms list compares them, and our Metaview alternatives guide sets the notetaker against 9 other options.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best interview intelligence platform in 2026?
The best interview intelligence platform depends on who runs the interview. For teams that want the first round run and analysed in one place, The Cognitive holds a live, two-way AI video interview and returns 1 to 5 scores per criterion plus overall written feedback, the transcript, the recording and resume claim checks. For recording your own human interviews, Metaview covers the most platforms and BrightHire suits larger teams that buy through sales.
Metaview vs BrightHire vs Pillar: which is better?
Metaview is the better pick if you interview on many platforms, BrightHire if you want a sales-led enterprise rollout, and Pillar if you hire on Lever, Jobvite or JazzHR. Metaview's notetaker covers Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex, phone and in-person interviews and publishes per-user prices. BrightHire lists Zoom, Teams and Meet with custom pricing. Pillar is now Employ's AI Interview Companion, which guides interviewers live during the call. If your first round is the bottleneck, The Cognitive runs that round itself with a live AI video interview.
What is the difference between interview intelligence for human-led and AI-led interviews?
Human-led interview intelligence records a conversation your team runs; AI-led interview intelligence comes from an interview the AI runs itself. Metaview, BrightHire, Greenhouse and Ashby join your calls and draft notes against your scorecard, so each candidate still costs an interviewer's hour. The Cognitive conducts a live, two-way AI video interview and produces the scores, transcript and recording from it. Most teams use an AI-led first round and a notetaker for the human rounds after.
Does interview intelligence work with Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet?
Yes, most interview intelligence tools work with all 3. Metaview, BrightHire, Greenhouse Notetaker, Ashby AI Notetaker, HireLogic, Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai name Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet on their own sites. Greenhouse and Ashby don't record phone interviews, while Metaview and HireLogic do. The Cognitive doesn't join your calls; candidates take its AI interview inside The Cognitive from the invitation link.
Do I need candidate consent to record interviews?
Usually yes, and this is not legal advice. US federal law allows recording with 1 party's consent, but the Digital Media Law Project lists 11 states, including California, Florida and Illinois, that require every party's consent. Greenhouse and Ashby collect consent or opt-outs at scheduling, and Metaview sets opt-out language per jurisdiction. The Cognitive's invitation tells candidates the interview is run by AI, and a person makes every hiring decision.
What is the best AI interview notes tool for recruiters?
Metaview is the strongest AI interview notes tool for recruiters who interview across video, phone and in person, because it posts notes and completed scorecards to your ATS. Greenhouse Notetaker and Ashby AI Notetaker are the simplest picks if you already use those ATSs. The Cognitive takes no notes on your calls; it writes its own report after the AI interview it runs, so pair it with one of these for later rounds.
What is the best interview recording and transcription software for recruiters?
Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai are the cheapest way to record and transcribe interviews, with free plans and published per-user prices. Fireflies.ai transcribes in 100+ languages and Otter.ai syncs to Greenhouse through Zapier. If you want the transcript mapped to a scorecard, Metaview, BrightHire, Greenhouse or Ashby fit better. The Cognitive keeps a timestamped transcript and recording of every AI interview it runs.
Is a hiring intelligence platform the same as an interview intelligence platform?
Not quite: hiring intelligence is a looser term that vendors stretch across sourcing, screening and analytics, while interview intelligence means recording and analysing interviews. Otter.ai, for example, markets its recruiting tool as turning interviews into hiring intelligence. The Cognitive covers 2 of those stages, sourcing across ~900M public profiles and a live AI interview with a scored report.
Can interview intelligence detect interview fraud?
Some tools flag it, and the problem is real: in a 2025 Gartner survey of 3,000 candidates, 6% admitted to interview fraud. Metaview's AI screen flags responses likely to be AI-assisted or fraudulent. The Cognitive logs integrity flags without scoring them and marks up to 5 resume claims VERIFIED, REFUTED or UNCLEAR with evidence from the interview. A person still makes the decision in both.
How much does interview intelligence software cost?
The Cognitive's AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month, on monthly plans you can cancel anytime. Metaview, Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai publish per-user plans with free tiers. Greenhouse, Ashby and Screenloop include their notetakers in an ATS plan or add-on, and BrightHire and Employ quote through sales.
