Affordable AI Recruiting Tools That Show Their Prices: How 10 Bill You in 2026
By Sparsh Goyal, Founder at The Cognitive. Published · Last updated
- Top picks: The Cognitive for sourcing and live AI interviews on monthly plans, TestGorilla for a free plan with AI interviews, Pin for free AI sourcing.
- The Cognitive ranks first because it finds and interviews candidates in a self-serve account at a published entry price, and bills sourcing per candidate a search returns.
- Pick Testlify or Willo if you only need to screen applicants, and Zoho Recruit or Breezy HR if you need a cheap ATS first.
- I run The Cognitive. The other 9 are judged from their own websites, read on 4 October 2026.
The Cognitive tops this list of affordable AI recruiting tools for a small team that needs to find candidates and interview them, because it publishes its prices, bills monthly with no annual lock-in, and charges sourcing per candidate a search returns instead of per seat. AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month. If you want a free plan instead, TestGorilla also publishes its prices and has one, with limited AI interviews included, and Pin has a free plan for AI sourcing.
Cheap matters more when volume keeps climbing. Gem's 2026 benchmarks found recruiters are handling 93% more applications than in 2021, with roughly 1 hire per 200 applications. So this list judges how each tool bills as volume grows, not just where it starts.
The best affordable AI recruiting tools in 2026
- The Cognitive: best for sourcing and live AI interviews, billed monthly.
- TestGorilla: best free plan with AI interviews.
- Pin: best free plan for AI sourcing.
- Juicebox: best monthly seat for AI search.
- Zoho Recruit: best cheap ATS with no forced contract.
- Breezy HR: best flat company price, with optional AI credits.
- Manatal: best per-user ATS for small agencies.
- Testlify: best pay-per-candidate AI interviews.
- Workable: best all-in-one price with a usage-billed AI agent.
- Willo: best no-contract video screening, paid per live role.
Full disclosure: I run The Cognitive. It ranks first on a test you can check: it finds people outside your own database and runs a live, two-way AI video interview with them, in an account you open without a sales call, at a published entry price, with sourcing billed per candidate returned. TestGorilla also sources and runs AI interviews, publishes its prices and has a free plan, so it sits second. After that, the order is my judgment for a team of 1 to 5 people. I have not used the other 9 on a paid account. What I say about them comes from their own websites, read on 4 October 2026.
What makes an AI recruiting tool affordable?
An affordable AI recruiting tool is one where you can see the price, start small, leave when you want and pay in line with how much you hire. A low sticker price alone doesn't qualify. I used 5 checks:
- Published price for at least the entry plan.
- Low entry tier: a free plan, a trial or a plan sized for 1 person.
- No annual lock-in: a monthly option, or a contract you can cancel.
- Self-serve: sign up and pay without booking a demo.
- Pay for what you use: billing by candidates, credits or live roles, not idle capacity.
Cheap AI recruiting software, low cost AI recruiting tools and AI recruiting tools for a small budget all come down to these 5 checks.
Which AI recruiting software has transparent pricing?
All 10 tools here publish at least one price. I filled in every cell from the vendor's own site on 4 October 2026, and left out competitor price figures because they change often and the billing model tells you more:
| Tool | Best for | Price published? | Pricing model | Free plan or trial | Start without a sales call? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Cognitive | Sourcing and live AI interviews | Yes | Monthly plans plus credits per candidate returned | Trial | Yes |
| TestGorilla | Skills tests and AI interviews | Yes | Sourcing per seat; assessments per account with credits | Free plan | Yes |
| Pin | Free AI sourcing | Yes | Per user; Solo plan billed annually only | Free plan | Yes |
| Juicebox | AI search for 1 recruiter | Yes | Per seat, monthly or yearly; agents extra | Free plan | Yes, except Business |
| Zoho Recruit | Low-risk ATS | Yes | Per recruiter licence, monthly or yearly | Free plan and 15-day trial | Yes |
| Breezy HR | Flat company price | Yes | Per company, monthly or annual; AI in credits | Free plan and 14-day trial | Yes |
| Manatal | Small agencies | Yes | Per user, monthly or yearly; AI Interviewer add-on | 14-day trial | Yes |
| Testlify | AI interviews by the candidate | Yes | Credits, 1 per candidate who starts | 7-day trial | Yes, except custom plans |
| Workable | All-in-one ATS | Yes | By company headcount band; Agent on AI credits | 15-day trial, no Agent | Yes |
| Willo | No-contract video screening | Yes | Lite per live role per month; Enterprise 1 to 3 year contract | None stated | Lite only |
For what each pricing model means in practice, see our breakdown of AI powered recruiting software pricing.
How did we choose these affordable AI recruiting tools?
I started with 13 tools. To make the list, a tool had to show an entry price on 4 October 2026, offer a free plan or trial, and use AI to find, screen or interview candidates. That cut 4:
- hireEZ publishes only its solo plan; team pricing is "configured to the stack hireEZ replaces" after a four-week verification.
- JobScore publishes prices per open job, but its AI writes job descriptions and summaries rather than finding or interviewing anyone.
- Recruit CRM publishes its Pro plan, but it's an agency ATS and CRM, and its Business plan starts with a walkthrough. Our Recruit CRM review covers it in full.
- Indeed runs sponsored jobs on a recommended budget, and its AI Recruiting Assistant sits in a beta plan.
The Cognitive meets all 5 checks and passes the sourcing plus live AI interview test. TestGorilla passes that test too: it searches what it calls 900M profiles, and "an AI interviewer asks dynamic follow-up questions in the moment". It ranks second because its sourcing is priced per seat and its free sourcing tier is "browse & preview only". Manatal comes close, with Chrome-extension sourcing and an AI Interviewer add-on. I saw no AI interviewer on Pin or Juicebox, and no sourcing on Testlify or Willo.
What I couldn't test: candidate quality on paid competitor plans, how fast credits run out on a real role, and whether vendors discount on a call.
How do you judge the real cost of an AI recruiting tool?
The real cost is what you pay over 12 months for the hiring you'll actually do. I work it out in 5 steps.
1. Find the billing unit and multiply it by your numbers
Every tool bills on a unit: a seat, an open job, a company, a candidate, a credit or a live role. Per-seat pricing suits 1 heavy user, and per-candidate pricing suits uneven hiring, because a quiet month costs less. Gem's report says recruiters manage 13.4 open roles at a time, so a free tier capped at 1 active job, like Zoho Recruit's or Breezy HR's, won't fit a busy desk.
2. List every add-on the AI needs
On most of these pages the AI is sold separately. Breezy Intelligence and Manatal's AI Interviewer are add-ons, Workable Agent runs on AI credits, Juicebox Agents are priced per agent, and Zoho Recruit sells video interviews per job opening. Price the plan with the add-ons switched on.
3. Check the contract length
A monthly price offered only on annual billing is an annual commitment. Pin's Solo plan is "billed annually only", and Willo Enterprise runs on 1, 2 or 3 year terms. Zoho Recruit says "No forced contracts", and Willo Lite has no contract at all.
4. Read what the free tier or trial leaves out
Workable's page says "Free trial does not include Workable Agent." TestGorilla's free sourcing has "0 invites", and Pin's free plan gives "5 contact lookup credits per week". Test the feature you'll pay for.
5. Note expiry dates and refund windows
Testlify says "Unused credits expire at cycle end", and Workable's AI credits expire 1 year from purchase and are non-refundable. Zoho Recruit offers a 45-day money-back guarantee and Testlify a 30-day one.
Add it up: plan price times months, plus seats, add-ons and usage above what's included. Do it for 2 tools, and the lower starting price often loses. If the ATS is the bigger line, our guide to how much an applicant tracking system costs walks through the same sum for ATS plans.
What is the cheapest AI interview software?
TestGorilla is the cheapest AI interview software to start with, because its free plan, the only free plan on this list that includes AI interviews, lets you "Create limited video questions and AI interviews". For regular use, it depends on volume:
- Testlify charges 1 credit per candidate who starts, with two-way video, audio and chat AI interviews.
- Willo Lite bills per live role with no contract, but its interviews are one-way recordings.
- Manatal sells its AI Interviewer as an add-on to a per-user ATS.
- The Cognitive runs live, two-way AI video interviews on monthly plans. AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month.
The cheapest interview isn't always the cheapest hire. You still watch every one-way recording, while a live interview that hands back a scored report saves that time. See how ours works on the AI interviewer page.
How do you choose an affordable AI recruiting tool?
Do you need to find people, or to screen people who applied?
This splits the list in 2. Gem's 2026 report found sourced candidates are nearly 8 times more likely to be hired than inbound applicants. If your applicants aren't good enough, a cheap screening tool just screens the wrong people faster, so you need The Cognitive, Pin or Juicebox. If there are simply too many applicants, Testlify, Willo or TestGorilla will screen them.
How many people will log in?
Breezy HR gives unlimited users on a company price, and Willo Lite allows up to 5. Per-seat tools like Juicebox and Manatal cost more for each person you add, which suits a solo recruiter and not a hiring committee.
How even is your hiring?
If you hire in bursts, pick usage billing. The Cognitive charges sourcing per candidate a search returns, Testlify per candidate who starts, and Willo Lite per live role. A per-seat plan charges the same in a month you hire nobody.
Does it connect to the ATS you already have?
Copying data by hand costs hours. The Cognitive has 60+ ATS integrations, including Zoho Recruit, Breezy, Workable and Manatal, and writes a note with the score, summary and report link back for candidates imported from the ATS. With Recruit CRM, it's a CSV upload plus a read-only report link.
The 10 most affordable AI recruiting tools, reviewed
1. The Cognitive: best for sourcing and live AI interviews on monthly, pay-as-you-search pricing
The Cognitive is AI recruiting software that sources candidates across ~900M public profiles and interviews them live with AI. It isn't an ATS, so it doesn't post jobs or host a careers page.
You describe the role in plain English and the app reads it into filters you can edit. When I typed "Senior backend engineer with 5+ years of Go who has built payments systems, Remote EU", the filters included "Remote EU", read as Germany plus 7 other countries. Everyone found is judged against your must-haves, and anyone who misses one drops below the people who meet them. Each result card opens with a "Why this match" line giving 1 or 2 reasons from the profile.
Sourcing is billed by what you get back: 1 credit per candidate a search returns, 5 to reveal a verified email and 10 for a phone number, with reveals charged only when a value comes back. Email and SMS outreach sequences come with the Sourcing Pro plan.
The Cognitive has a free trial with 100 sourcing credits.
Then you invite the people you like, one at a time or in bulk, to a live, two-way AI video interview of 10 or 20 minutes, in any of 9 languages. Candidates book their own slot without an account, and the invitation tells them the interview is run by AI. The rubric is fixed per role and the questions adapt live.
The recording above is a 5-minute live AI interview for a go-to-market role. The AI asks about an outbound email campaign, then follows up on reply rates and on how the leads were qualified.
Each report gives a 1 to 5 score per criterion plus overall written feedback, a weighted score out of 100, a suggested verdict, the transcript and the recording. It also checks up to 5 resume claims the AI chose to probe, marking each VERIFIED, REFUTED or UNCLEAR with evidence from the interview. Nothing is rejected automatically.
AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month, on monthly plans you can cancel anytime.
Pick it if your job posts aren't reaching the right people, you want a scored first interview without booking calls, and you'd rather pay by the candidate than by the seat.

2. TestGorilla: best free plan for skills tests and a first taste of AI interviews
TestGorilla calls itself "The proof-first AI recruiting platform". It sells Gorilla Sourcing, which says it searches 900M profiles, and Gorilla Assessments, which covers skills tests, video questions and AI interviews.
Its pricing page publishes every paid tier and a free plan for each product. Free Assessments gives "10 credits per month, refreshes monthly", 5 essential skills tests with unlimited use and limited AI interviews. On its AI interviews page, an AI avatar asks follow-up questions and candidates complete it on their own time. That's the most AI you'll get free on this list.
The limit is sourcing. The free tier is "browse & preview only", contacting candidates "starts on Core", and paid sourcing is priced per seat. Our list of TestGorilla alternatives covers other assessment-first options.
Pick it if you screen applicants with skills tests and want to try AI interviews before paying anything.
3. Pin: best free plan for AI sourcing with email sequences
Pin is an AI recruiting platform that searches what it says are 850M+ profiles. Its pricing page lists a free plan, described as "free forever", with 1 job position, 1 AI agent, email-only sequences and "5 contact lookup credits per week". A banner offers 50 sourced candidates a month with no credit card.
The catches show up when you grow: the Solo plan is "billed annually only", ATS integration is an add-on on Solo and Professional, and Pin's interview feature is scheduling, not an AI interviewer. We compare other options in our roundup of Pin alternatives for AI sourcing.
Pick it if you want to try AI sourcing and outreach for 1 role at no cost.
4. Juicebox: best low-cost AI search for a single recruiter on a monthly seat
Juicebox lets you "Find top talent from 800M global profiles and 30+ diverse data sources" with natural-language search. Its pricing page publishes per-seat plans, monthly or yearly, and a free plan with "Limited free searches" and 1 Juicebox Agent.
The strength is a monthly seat with unlimited searches and contact credits included. The limits: agents cost extra, Business is annual only, and I saw no interview step. Our Juicebox review goes deeper on the search itself.
Pick it if you're a solo recruiter who mainly needs better search.
5. Zoho Recruit: best cheap ATS with no forced contract and a money-back window
Zoho Recruit heads its pricing page with "No forced contracts", a 15-day free trial and a "45-day money-back guarantee". It prices per recruiter licence, monthly or yearly, and its Forever Free plan covers "1 active job/ recruiter license" with interview scheduling.
It's the only ATS here that states a money-back guarantee on its pricing page. The trade-off: video interviews, "one-way or live" with your team, are an add-on billed per job opening, and add-ons aren't supported on the free edition. If it doesn't fit, see our shortlist of Zoho Recruit alternatives.
Pick it if you want a low-risk ATS and can cancel the moment it stops fitting.
6. Breezy HR: best flat company price, with AI bought in credits only if you want it
Breezy HR prices per company, not per user, monthly or annually. Its free Bootstrap plan keeps "one active job opening or candidate pool at a time" with unlimited users, and paid plans have a "Full Feature 14-Day Trial" with no card.
A flat price with unlimited users makes it cheap when 6 managers need to see candidates. Breezy Intelligence, its "AI-powered candidate evaluation, interaction summaries, and resume auditing", is an optional credit add-on.
Pick it if several people need ATS access and you want AI as an optional extra.
7. Manatal: best per-user ATS with AI recommendations for small agencies
Manatal publishes per-user prices, yearly or monthly, with a Professional plan "For individuals & small teams" and a 14-day trial with "No credit card required". Its plans include AI candidate enrichment and AI recommendations, and its Chrome extension sources from LinkedIn and 10+ other platforms.
A per-user ATS with AI built in suits a 2 or 3 person agency. The limit is that the AI Interviewer, which Manatal says conducts video interviews, is an add-on, so the entry price doesn't include interviewing. Agencies weighing it against others can start with our Manatal competitors list.
Pick it if you're a small agency that needs an ATS with AI matching and may add AI interviews later.
8. Testlify: best pay-per-candidate AI interviews by video, audio or chat
Testlify publishes credit-based plans, monthly or annual, with "One credit per candidate", used when they start. Its Standard plan lists "Two-way video interviews (Video AI)", plus two-way audio and chat AI interviews. There's a 7-day free trial with no credit card and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Paying only when a candidate starts is close to pure pay-as-you-go. The limits: "Unused credits expire at cycle end", there's no free plan, and I saw no sourcing, so you need applicants first.
Pick it if you have plenty of applicants and want AI interviews priced by the candidate.
9. Workable: best published all-in-one price with a usage-billed AI agent
Workable calls its pricing "Fair, transparent" and publishes every tier, priced by company headcount band, monthly or annual. Its 15-day trial includes the full Standard plan with no credit card, and you buy from inside the trial.
The AI is Workable Agent, an add-on that sources, screens and qualifies candidates on AI credits, so you pay for the candidates it handles, starting with 3,000 free credits. The limits: the trial excludes the Agent, and texting, video interviews and assessments are separate add-ons.
Pick it if you want an ATS with AI sourcing and screening on one published bill.
10. Willo: best no-contract video screening, paid per live role
Willo offers 2 ways to buy. Willo Lite is pay as you go with no contract, billed per live role in the months you use it, with up to 5 live roles, 150 assessed candidates per role and 5 users. Willo Enterprise runs on 1, 2 or 3 year contracts with a quote after a demo.
Lite is the only plan here priced purely by the live role, which suits a business that hires 3 times a year. The format is "one-way interviews", with Willo Intelligence adding transcripts and summaries, so candidates record answers rather than talk to anyone live. I saw no free plan or trial.
Pick it if you hire occasionally and want structured video screening without a subscription.
Which AI recruiting tools fit a small budget or a startup?
For a startup or small business, the cheapest working setup is a free ATS plus 1 paid AI tool for the job your ATS can't do. Zoho Recruit or Breezy HR keeps applicants in order for free while you hire 1 role at a time. Add The Cognitive when you need to find people, or Testlify when there are too many applicants to screen. For the free side, see our list of the best free recruiting software and our guide to hiring software for small business. Founders should also read our picks of recruiting software for startups, and for the full category beyond price, the best AI recruitment platforms.
Who is The Cognitive built for?
It's built for founders, small agencies and lean in-house teams with more roles than recruiters and a budget that has to pay off month by month. The fit is strongest when good candidates aren't applying and nobody has time for 20 first-round calls. Most keep their tools and add The Cognitive alongside:
- Keep your ATS. Zoho Recruit, Breezy, Workable or Manatal stays your system of record.
- Pair with TestGorilla. Its free skills tests cover applicants; The Cognitive finds and interviews people who never applied.
- Keep free job posts. Send promising Indeed or LinkedIn applicants to a live AI interview.
How do you test an affordable AI recruiting tool before you pay?
Run 1 real, open role through 2 tools for 2 weeks. Write down each tool's billing unit, add-ons and contract length first. At the end, compare candidates a hiring manager would interview, hours spent, and what the month cost at your real volume.
Our pricing page has the credit rule in full, and the AI sourcing tool page shows how search works. Then run the role through The Cognitive and keep whichever tool got you to a good interview for less.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the most affordable AI recruiting tools in 2026?
The most affordable AI recruiting tools in 2026 are The Cognitive, TestGorilla, Pin and Juicebox, because all 4 publish prices and let you start without a sales call. The Cognitive leads for teams that need to find and interview candidates: plans are monthly and sourcing is billed per candidate a search returns. TestGorilla and Pin have free plans, and Juicebox sells a monthly seat with unlimited searches.
Which AI recruiting software has transparent, published pricing?
All 10 tools on our list publish at least an entry price: The Cognitive, TestGorilla, Pin, Juicebox, Zoho Recruit, Breezy HR, Manatal, Testlify, Workable and Willo. The Cognitive publishes its plan prices and its full credit rule. Some publish only part of the picture: Juicebox's Business plan and Willo Enterprise are quoted, and hireEZ publishes only its solo plan.
What is the cheapest AI interview software?
TestGorilla is the cheapest AI interview software to start with, because its free plan includes limited AI interviews. For regular use, Testlify bills 1 credit per candidate who starts, and Willo Lite bills per live role with no contract, though Willo's interviews are one-way. The Cognitive runs live, two-way AI video interviews on monthly plans; AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month.
Are there free AI recruiting tools?
Yes, but every free AI recruiting plan has a cap. TestGorilla's free plan gives 10 assessment credits a month and limited AI interviews, Pin's gives 5 contact lookups a week for 1 job, and Juicebox's gives limited searches. The Cognitive isn't free, and it has a free trial with 100 sourcing credits so you can run a real search first.
What is the best cheap AI recruiting software for a small business or startup?
The best cheap setup for a small business or startup is a free ATS plus 1 paid AI tool. Keep applicants in Zoho Recruit's or Breezy HR's free plan, then add The Cognitive when you need to find people who haven't applied and interview them, or Testlify when you have too many applicants to screen. That keeps your monthly bill to the one job your ATS can't do.
Is per-seat or usage-based pricing cheaper for AI recruiting software?
Usage-based pricing is usually cheaper when hiring is uneven, and per-seat pricing is cheaper for 1 person who uses the tool every day. The Cognitive bills sourcing per candidate a search returns, so a quiet month costs less. Juicebox and Manatal charge per seat, and Breezy HR charges one company price however many people log in, which suits a scaling team with many reviewers.
What hidden costs should I look for in AI recruiting software?
The biggest hidden costs are AI add-ons, annual-only billing and credits that expire. The Cognitive bills monthly, and a contact reveal is charged only when a value comes back. Elsewhere on our list, Breezy Intelligence, Manatal's AI Interviewer and Juicebox Agents are add-ons, Pin's Solo plan is billed annually only, and Testlify's unused credits expire at the end of each cycle.
How much does The Cognitive cost?
AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month, on monthly plans you can cancel anytime. A search costs 1 credit per candidate it returns, 5 credits to reveal an email and 10 to reveal a phone number, and reveals are charged only when a value comes back. Email and SMS outreach comes with the Sourcing Pro plan.
Can I buy AI recruiting software without talking to sales?
Yes, every tool on our list lets you start without a sales call on at least one plan. The Cognitive is fully self-serve: you sign up, run a search and upgrade in the app. Workable lets you buy from inside its trial, while Juicebox's Business plan, Willo Enterprise and Testlify's custom plans go through sales.
Which low cost AI recruiting tools find candidates instead of just screening them?
The Cognitive, Pin, Juicebox and TestGorilla's Gorilla Sourcing find candidates outside your own applicants. The Cognitive searches ~900M public profiles and then interviews the people you pick, live, with AI. Pin and Juicebox have free plans for sourcing, and Gorilla Sourcing is priced per seat.
