Zoho Recruit Alternatives for 2026: Keep Zoho and Add AI, or Switch to One of 9 ATSs

The best Zoho Recruit alternative in 2026 is The Cognitive, if what you're short of is new candidates and first interviews: it searches ~900M public profiles, runs a live, two-way AI video interview, and connects to Zoho Recruit directly. To replace the ATS itself, Recruit CRM, Manatal and Bullhorn are the closest Zoho Recruit competitors for agencies. Workable and Breezy HR suit in-house teams.

Zoho Recruit tracks applicants well, but it has no profile database of its own. Zoho says its AI "does not scrape data externally". That costs you hires: Gem's 2026 Recruiting Benchmarks, built on 1.2 million hires, found that sourced candidates are nearly 8 times more likely to be hired than inbound applicants.

The best Zoho Recruit alternatives in 2026

  1. The Cognitive: best for adding AI sourcing and live AI interviews to Zoho Recruit, or to the ATS you move to.
  2. Recruit CRM: best agency ATS for desks that source from the open web and want to cancel anytime.
  3. Manatal: best low-cost swap with a 700M+ outside database and an AI video screen.
  4. Bullhorn: best for staffing firms that have outgrown Zoho and want AI screening by voice or text.
  5. Recruiterflow: best for executive search firms that want 850M+ profiles inside the CRM.
  6. Crelate: best for agencies that want a 1 billion profile Discovery Agent and monthly billing.
  7. Loxo: best for firms that want sourcing, CRM and outreach on one owned talent graph.
  8. JobAdder: best for boutique agencies placing temps and contractors.
  9. Workable: best for in-house teams that want an agent to source and screen inside the ATS.
  10. Breezy HR: best for small employers that want a free plan and a simple pipeline.

Full disclosure: I run The Cognitive. I put it first on a test you can check: it's the only tool on this list that finds people outside your database and runs a live, two-way AI video interview with them, in an account you can open without a sales call, at a published price. It isn't an ATS, so I rank it as the layer that fills whichever ATS you keep or pick. After #1, the order is my judgment of how well each tool replaces Zoho Recruit for a small or mid-sized agency. I have not used the other 9 on a paid account. What I say about them comes from their own websites, read on 3 October 2026.

What is Zoho Recruit, and why do teams leave it?

Zoho Recruit is a cloud ATS and recruitment CRM sold in 2 editions: Corporate for HR teams and Staffing Agency for recruiters with clients. Zoho says "over 800,000 techruiters" use it, and its in-house AI, Zia, matches candidates to jobs.

Buyers rate it well: 4.4 out of 5 from 1,864 reviews on G2 and 4.5 from 1,288 on Capterra. G2's review summary, read today, lists these cons:

Capterra's first page, 6 reviews from 2026, points the same way: 4 mention slow setup or a long learning period, and 2 each mention a dated interface, rigid reporting and slow page loads.

Star ratings also miss 2 product gaps:

Should you keep Zoho Recruit and add The Cognitive, or switch?

Keep Zoho Recruit if your complaints are about sourcing and screening. Those are the 2 jobs The Cognitive does, and it connects to Zoho Recruit directly. You import candidates from Zoho, interview them live with AI, and a note with the score, summary and report link is written back to their Zoho record. People you find inside The Cognitive aren't written into Zoho automatically, so you add the ones you want to keep.

Switch if the complaint is the ATS itself: the learning curve, the setup work, the reporting or the speed. A move means migrating your data and retraining the team, so I'd add sourcing and interviews on top of Zoho first, then decide on the ATS once you can see which complaints are left. Most of the ATSs below also connect directly to The Cognitive; the table shows which.

How do the top Zoho Recruit competitors compare?

Here is how they stack up, with Zoho Recruit as the baseline. I filled in every cell from the vendor's own site on 3 October 2026:

How did I rank these alternatives to Zoho Recruit?

I started with 10 tools that buyers weigh against Zoho Recruit: Manatal, Recruit CRM, Bullhorn, JobAdder, Recruiterflow, Workable, Breezy HR, Crelate, Loxo and Ceipal. I read each one's homepage and pricing page on 3 October 2026. I cut Ceipal, an ATS plus vendor management system aimed at large staffing operations, because Bullhorn covers that buyer.

I checked the #1 test against Zoho Recruit and all 9 others. Manatal, Recruit CRM, Recruiterflow, Crelate, Loxo and Workable find people outside your database, but none runs a live, two-way AI video interview: Manatal's is asynchronous, Workable screens by chat, and Bullhorn's screener uses voice or text on an edition sold by quote. Below #1, I ranked on agency features, built-in outside sourcing and how openly each one prices.

What is the best Zoho Recruit alternative for agencies?

For most small agencies it's Recruit CRM, paired with The Cognitive for interviews. Recruit CRM is built only for agencies, puts AI sourcing on its entry plan and lets you cancel anytime. On Zoho's Staffing edition, the client portal and vendor portal sit only on the top Enterprise tier, so an agency that wants clients to log in pays for the highest plan.

The answer shifts with your desk. Executive search firms should look at Recruiterflow (or our list of executive search software), and temp and contract desks at JobAdder or Bullhorn (or our staffing software picks). For a wider agency list, see our guide to recruitment software for agencies.

How do you choose a Zoho Recruit alternative?

Is the problem the ATS or the pipeline?

List the tasks that cost you the most hours each week. If they're setup, reporting or speed, that's the ATS. If they're finding people and running first calls, most new ATSs won't fix it, and The Cognitive covers that half with Zoho Recruit left as it is.

Do you need an alternative with AI sourcing and AI interviews?

Recruiters now handle 93% more applications than in 2021 and juggle 13.4 open roles at a time, per the same Gem report. Several ATSs on this list source, but only The Cognitive interviews the people it finds in a live, two-way AI video call, scored against a rubric that stays fixed for the role.

Do you need a free plan?

Zoho Recruit and Breezy HR both have a free-forever plan, and both stop at 1 active job. That's enough to test with and too little to run a desk. Every other ATS here is paid. Where there's a trial, it runs from 7 days (Loxo) to 30 days (Recruit CRM).

The 10 best Zoho Recruit alternatives, reviewed

1. The Cognitive: best for adding AI sourcing and live AI interviews to Zoho Recruit, or to the ATS you move to

The Cognitive is AI recruiting software that sources candidates across ~900M public profiles and interviews them live with AI. It fills the 2 gaps Zoho Recruit leaves open.

You describe the role in plain English and it becomes filters you can edit. I typed "Senior backend engineer with 5+ years of Go who has built payments systems, Remote EU", and it read "Remote EU" as Germany plus 7 other countries. Everyone found is judged against your must-haves, and anyone who misses one drops below the people who meet them. Each result card opens with a "Why this match" line giving 1 or 2 reasons from the profile, such as their current role or a skill they list.

You reveal verified emails and phone numbers only for the people you want, enriched from 30+ sources: 5 credits for an email and 10 for a phone number, charged only when a value comes back. On the Sourcing Pro plan you can run email and SMS sequences from platform mailboxes, and a reply or opt-out on either channel stops both.

The invitation tells candidates the interview is run by AI, and they book their own slot without an account. The interview is live video, 10 or 20 minutes, in any of 9 languages. The rubric stays fixed for the role while the questions follow what each person says.

The 5-minute recording above is a live AI interview for a go-to-market role. The AI asks the candidate about an outbound email campaign, then follows up on reply rates and how the leads were qualified. More on the AI interviewer page.

The report gives a 1 to 5 score per criterion, a weighted score out of 100, a suggested verdict, the transcript and the recording. Nothing is rejected automatically, and integrity flags are logged, not scored. For candidates imported from Zoho Recruit, that note lands back on their record; the setup is on our Zoho Recruit integration page.

It has no job posting, careers pages, offers or funnel analytics, and it doesn't search your Zoho history. Zoho Recruit keeps those jobs.

Pick it if Zoho Recruit tracks your hiring fine but finds nobody new and leaves you running every first call. AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month. Our AI sourcing page shows how the search works.

2. Recruit CRM: best agency ATS for desks that source from the open web and want to cancel anytime

Recruit CRM is an "AI First ATS + CRM built for recruitment agencies". Unlike Zoho, its entry Pro plan includes AI sourcing that lets you "source from across the internet with natural language", plus a Chrome extension. Sequences run across email, SMS and LinkedIn.

Its pricing page offers monthly or annual billing, and the FAQ says you can cancel anytime and export your data. No price figure showed when I read it. Phone and email enrichment sits on Enterprise, with 25 free credits on every plan. There's no AI interview, and it isn't a direct integration of ours yet. Our Recruit CRM review and Recruit CRM alternatives go deeper.

Pick it if you run an agency and want sourcing in the ATS without Zoho's configuration work.

3. Manatal: best low-cost swap with a 700M+ outside database and an AI video screen

Manatal is the nearest match to Zoho Recruit on price, and it's "tailored for HR teams, recruitment agencies, and headhunters". Every plan can "source from a database of over 700 million candidates", which Zoho can't.

The limits sit in the help centre. Its Sourcing Hub allows 10 searches a month on Professional and Enterprise, roughly 1,000 candidates. The AI Interviewer runs "automated, asynchronous video interviews" with up to 10 set questions, and its add-on price isn't on the pricing page. More in our Manatal alternatives guide.

Pick it if you want to stay low-cost and get some outside sourcing in the same system.

4. Bullhorn: best for staffing firms that have outgrown Zoho and want AI screening by voice or text

Bullhorn is the staffing incumbent, with editions from Starter up to Max. Its Amplify AI can "conduct, summarize, and score candidate interviews around the clock". Bullhorn's help centre says that screen runs by voice or text, with dynamic, role-specific questions.

The pricing page shows per-user prices for Starter and Core only. Agentic screening is on Max, sold by quote. It doesn't advertise an outside profile database. Our Bullhorn vs Zoho Recruit comparison goes deeper, our Bullhorn pricing guide explains the tiers, and our Bullhorn alternatives list its rivals.

Pick it if you run a staffing business at volume and need a system your back office can grow into.

5. Recruiterflow: best for executive search firms that want 850M+ profiles inside the CRM

Recruiterflow is an ATS and CRM "trusted by 2,100+ search firms globally". AIRA Source searches "850M+ profiles without leaving Recruiterflow".

Its pricing page publishes a per-user Platform Plan, monthly or annual. The AIRA Plan is custom. There's a demo but no trial, and no AI interview. See our Recruiterflow alternatives.

Pick it if you run retained or executive search and Zoho feels built for volume hiring.

6. Crelate: best for agencies that want a 1 billion profile Discovery Agent and monthly billing

Crelate "unifies sourcing, Recruiting CRM, and applicant tracking with agentic AI". Its Discovery Agent searches "over 1 billion profiles" with phone and email lookups, and Co-Pilot helps with screening and interview prep.

Pricing is per user. Essentials is paid annually, Business is "annual or monthly", and both show a price; the top 2 tiers are custom. There's a free trial and no AI interview.

Pick it if you want outside discovery inside an agency CRM and don't want an annual lock-in.

7. Loxo: best for firms that want sourcing, CRM and outreach on one owned talent graph

Loxo combines sourcing, CRM, ATS, outreach and AI agents in one system of record. It runs on what it calls an "850-million-person talent graph we built ourselves".

The trade-off is the contract. Loxo's pricing page says "Annual plans, paid up front", and Enterprise is a custom annual agreement. The 7-day trial covers the full Professional plan. There's no AI interview, and it isn't a direct integration of ours. See our Loxo review and Loxo alternatives.

Pick it if you want one vendor for sourcing and tracking and can commit for a year.

8. JobAdder: best for boutique agencies placing temps and contractors

JobAdder sells Recruiter Lite "for new and boutique agencies" and Essential "for growing agencies". Lite already includes temp and contract management, client management and a business development pipeline.

No price appears on its pricing page; JobAdder builds "a tailored proposal" instead. It doesn't list an outside profile database or an AI interview.

Pick it if temp and contract placements are a big share of your desk and you're fine buying through sales.

9. Workable: best for in-house teams that want an agent to source and screen inside the ATS

Workable is an ATS and HR suite "trusted by 35,000+ teams worldwide". Its agent "searches 400M+ profiles" and checks every inbound applicant against up to 14 job criteria before messaging them to fill gaps.

The pricing page publishes plans, monthly or annual, and the agent runs on AI credits. Its video interviews are one-way, per Workable's help centre. It's built for companies hiring their own staff. See our Workable alternatives.

Pick it if you're on Zoho's Corporate edition and want sourcing and screening handled in the ATS.

10. Breezy HR: best for small employers that want a free plan and a simple pipeline

Breezy HR offers "simple, flexible pricing for teams of 10 to 10,000". Its free plan allows 1 active position. Breezy Intelligence, an add-on, covers "AI-powered candidate evaluation, interaction summaries, and resume auditing".

Paid tiers are on the pricing page, annual or monthly, with a 14-day trial and no card. Video screening is one-way, up to 5 minutes per answer. It has no outside profile database and no client CRM. Our list of free ATS options compares Breezy's free plan with Zoho's.

Pick it if you hire a few people a year and found Zoho's settings more than you needed.

Zoho Recruit vs Manatal, Bullhorn and Recruit CRM: how do they differ?

Zoho Recruit vs Manatal

Both are low-cost and priced per user, monthly or yearly. Manatal adds outside sourcing and an asynchronous AI video interview. Zoho Recruit adds a free plan, a separate Staffing edition and deeper workflow customisation. Pick Manatal for built-in sourcing and Zoho for control over your process.

Zoho Recruit vs Bullhorn

Bullhorn is built for staffing firms at scale, with back office options and an AI screener on its top edition, sold by quote. Zoho Recruit is cheaper, publishes every plan price and serves both employers and agencies. Pick Bullhorn if you need staffing back office and AI screening at volume, and Zoho if published prices and a lower bill matter more.

Zoho Recruit vs Recruit CRM

Recruit CRM is agency-only, with AI sourcing on its entry plan and a 30-day trial. Zoho Recruit publishes its prices, has a free plan and lets you customise far more. Pick Recruit CRM if your desk lives on outbound, and Zoho if you need to model a complex internal process.

None of the 4 runs a live, two-way AI video interview. That's the step The Cognitive adds to whichever one you choose.

Who is The Cognitive built for?

I built The Cognitive for recruiters who need fresh people on a role this week and want to send clients candidates who've already been interviewed. It fits small agencies and lean in-house teams that hire in bursts and want to see the price first.

How is Zoho Recruit priced, and how do the alternatives charge?

Zoho Recruit prices per recruiter license, monthly or yearly, and yearly saves up to 16%. The Corporate edition has Forever Free, Standard and Enterprise tiers, capped at 1, 10 and 20 active jobs per license; the Staffing edition adds a Professional tier. Video interviews are an add-on priced per job opening, not available on the free plan. There's a 15-day trial and a 45-day money-back guarantee, and every figure is on its pricing page.

The alternatives charge in 3 ways:

The Cognitive charges 1 credit per candidate a search returns, 5 to reveal an email and 10 to reveal a phone number. AI Sourcing starts at $49/month and AI Interview at $99/month, on monthly plans you can cancel anytime. You can also start with a free trial with 100 sourcing credits. Details are on our pricing page.

How do you test a Zoho Recruit alternative before you switch?

Run 1 live role through Zoho Recruit and the new tool side by side for 2 weeks before you migrate anything. Count the people each search finds that you'd actually contact, reveal 20 emails and count the bounces. For AI interviews, send 5 candidates through and read the transcripts for follow-ups that dig into their answers. Then you'll know if you need a new ATS or a better top of the funnel.

Yes. Zoho Recruit is a direct integration of The Cognitive, so you can import candidates, interview them live with AI and get a note with the score, summary and report link written back to their Zoho record. The most common reason is the learning curve: G2's review summary lists it 48 times, plus 21 mentions of difficult learning. Limited customization (33), missing features (21) and integration issues (20) follow. Zoho Recruit also has no profile database of its own and no AI interviewer, which pushes outbound-heavy teams to add a sourcing tool such as The Cognitive.

Zoho Recruit vs Manatal: which is better?

Manatal is better if you want outside sourcing built in, and Zoho Recruit is better if you want a free plan and deeper workflow customisation. Manatal's 700M+ database allows 10 searches a month on its lower plans, and its AI interview is asynchronous; The Cognitive adds live AI interviews to either.

Which is better: Bullhorn vs Zoho Recruit?

Bullhorn is better for staffing firms at volume, and Zoho Recruit is better for small teams that want published prices and a lower bill. Bullhorn publishes prices only for Starter and Core, and its AI screener, by voice or text, sits on Bullhorn Max, sold by quote. Both connect directly to The Cognitive.

How much does Zoho Recruit cost?

Zoho Recruit charges per recruiter license, monthly or yearly, and publishes every plan price on its website, with yearly billing saving up to 16%. Both editions have a Forever Free plan limited to 1 active job, and video interviews are an add-on priced per job opening. Yes, for agencies that want a low-cost, highly customisable ATS. Zoho Recruit sells a separate Staffing Agency edition with Zia candidate matching, formatted resumes and timesheet support. Its limits for agencies are no outside profile database and client and vendor portals only on the top Enterprise tier.
