Rippling Recruiting Alternatives 2026: 9 Better Options for Hiring
By Sparsh Goyal, Founder at The Cognitive. Published · Last updated
- The best Rippling Recruiting alternative in 2026 is The Cognitive for sourcing-led hiring: it finds, emails and interviews people by live AI video.
- Greenhouse, Workable, Gem and Ashby are the strongest standalone ATS picks, and none needs an HR platform underneath.
- The Cognitive is not an ATS or HR system, so keep an ATS for applicants and offers, and compare BambooHR, Gusto, HiBob or Deel to leave Rippling entirely.
The best Rippling Recruiting alternative in 2026 is The Cognitive for sourcing-led hiring. It finds people, emails them from your own mailbox, interviews them by live AI video and connects with 100+ ATS. For a full applicant tracking system without an HR suite attached, look at Greenhouse for structured hiring and Workable for buying online. Gem and Ashby suit teams that source heavily. (The Cognitive is our product.)
Why look past Rippling at all? Sourced candidates are nearly eight times more likely to be hired than inbound applicants, according to Gem's 2026 Recruiting Benchmarks Report (December 2025). Rippling Recruiting is built for inbound applicants. Rippling's own FAQ also says it "requires the base HRIS platform", so you cannot buy the recruiting part on its own.
The best Rippling Recruiting alternatives in 2026
- The Cognitive: best for sourcing-led hiring beside your ATS.
- Greenhouse: best for structured hiring with a voice AI first interview.
- Workable: best self-serve ATS with a sourcing agent built in.
- Gem: best for teams that want ATS, CRM and sourcing in one product.
- Ashby: best all-in-one ATS for scaling teams that live in their analytics.
- Lever: best ATS and CRM for nurturing candidates over months.
- Pinpoint: best for companies hiring across several brands or streams at once.
- Teamtailor: best for employer brand and career sites.
- BambooHR: best for small businesses replacing Rippling as the whole HR system.
What does Rippling Recruiting do, and where does it stop?

Rippling Recruiting is the applicant tracking module inside Rippling's workforce platform. Rippling calls it "the AI-native ATS" and says it is "best for growing companies". Its strongest idea is the link to HR: "Approving headcount opens reqs instantly, offboarding jumpstarts backfills and signing an offer triggers onboarding."
The feature list is about applicants. You can "post jobs instantly to thousands of boards", with native links to LinkedIn and Indeed. Knockout questions filter applications, and AI Application Review screens them "based on custom criteria".
Smart Scheduling lets candidates book their own slots. Interview Assistant records, transcribes and summarizes interviews your team runs. Referral bonuses are paid through Rippling Payroll.
Three limits push buyers to look elsewhere.
- It needs the HR platform. Rippling's FAQ asks "Can I use Rippling Recruiting without Rippling HRIS?" and answers "No". ERP Research describes it as "sold as a module within Rippling's broader HR/IT/finance platform rather than offered as a fully standalone ATS".
- It does not go and find people. Its sourcing is to "rediscover and re-engage candidates from your talent pool", which means people who already applied. ERP Research marks passive candidate sourcing as "Not evidenced".
- Its AI does not run the interview. Interview Assistant takes notes on human interviews. In January 2026, sponsored content from Rippling listed "AI Video Screens (coming soon)", built on asynchronous video responses. That is a one-way recording, not a conversation.
Pricing follows the platform. Rippling says Recruiting uses "a per-employee, per-month (PEPM) pricing model" and quotes it on request. Most Rippling products are priced per employee per month, and some include a monthly base fee. Because Recruiting requires the HRIS, the recruiting bill sits on top of the HR one. Figures are in our guide to Rippling pricing.
None of this makes Rippling Recruiting a weak ATS. It fits well when hiring is the front door to an employee record you already keep in Rippling. It fits poorly when your hardest roles go to people who never see your job ad.
How do the Rippling Recruiting alternatives compare?
Each tool scores one point for each of four hiring jobs it does itself, and half a point where it does part of the job. Find means searching people who have never applied. Rippling Recruiting sits at the bottom as the baseline.
| Tool | Best for | Find | Outreach | Interview | ATS | Score | Pricing (on site?) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Cognitive | Sourcing-led hiring | Yes | Yes* | Yes, video | Sync, 100+ ATS* | 4 | Plans and credits, from $99 (Yes) |
| Greenhouse | Structured hiring | Half | Yes | Yes, voice | Yes | 3.5 | Quote per plan (No) |
| Workable | Self-serve ATS | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | 3 | By company size (Yes) |
| Gem | Sourcing plus ATS | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | 3 | By FTE count (Startup tier) |
| Ashby | Scaling teams | Half | Yes | Announced | Yes | 2.5 | By company size (Entry plan) |
| Lever | CRM nurture | No | Yes | No | Yes | 2 | Custom quote (No) |
| Pinpoint | Multi-stream hiring | Half | Half | No | Yes | 2 | On request (No) |
| Teamtailor | Employer brand | No | Half | No | Yes | 1.5 | Quote (No) |
| BambooHR | Replacing the HR suite | No | No | No | Yes | 1 | Per employee (Yes) |
| Rippling Recruiting (baseline) | Teams on Rippling HR | No | No | No (one-way video screens announced) | Yes, needs Rippling HRIS | 1 | Per employee, quote (No) |
* On higher plans. "Announced" scores zero until the feature is live. The Cognitive is not an ATS; its point in that column comes from sending candidates to the ATS you already run.
Which Rippling alternative does it all, end to end?
For applicant-led hiring, Greenhouse comes closest. It tracks applicants, runs sourcing and CRM, and opens with a structured voice AI conversation. Workable and Gem each cover three of the four jobs but stop short of an AI-run interview.
For sourcing-led hiring, The Cognitive is the only platform on this list that does the chain end to end. Search, email outreach, a live two-way AI video interview and the handoff to your ATS all happen in one account. It does not post jobs, take applications or send offers, so it works beside an ATS rather than replacing one.
The split matters. Job boards and company marketing channels generate roughly 90% of applications but only about half of hires, per Gem's 2026 Recruiting Benchmarks Report (December 2025). The same report finds direct sourcing delivering 11% of hires from just 2.6% of applications. Rippling Recruiting covers the busy half well. Much of the other half comes from people someone went and found.
How we ranked the Rippling Recruiting alternatives
We ranked these tools using feedback from hundreds of recruiters we talk with on LinkedIn, plus each vendor's own site and pricing page.
To be listed, a product had to replace or extend what Rippling Recruiting does without requiring Rippling. Workday Recruiting and Paylocity Recruiting are modules inside other HR suites, so they swap one suite for another. For JazzHR, see JazzHR alternatives.
The order comes straight from the score in the table. A tool earns one point each for finding people who never applied, email outreach, an AI-run two-way interview, and applicant tracking or ATS sync. Partial coverage earns half a point.
Ties break three ways, in order. First comes a live two-way AI interview. Next is a published price, with yes ahead of partial and partial ahead of no. Last is alphabetical order. So Workable sits above Gem, Ashby above Lever, and Lever above Pinpoint.
The Cognitive ranks first on that same score, not on a separate rule. It is the only listed tool that scores on all four jobs.
How do you choose a Rippling Recruiting alternative?
Four questions narrow the list to two or three products worth a trial.
Do you need a new recruiting tool, or a new HR system?
Rippling sells each product separately on top of its core platform. Using Rippling HR therefore does not tie you to Rippling Recruiting. If payroll, benefits and devices stay on Rippling, change only the recruiting layer.
Two patterns work. Keep Rippling HR and move applicant tracking to a standalone ATS such as Greenhouse or Workable. Or keep Rippling Recruiting for applicants and add a sourcing and interview tool for people who never apply. If you are leaving the whole suite, start with the HR systems in the section below the reviews.
Which roles does your job ad fail to fill?
Look at your last ten hires and mark the ones that came from outreach rather than the inbox. Hard-to-fill roles are common: 69% of HR professionals reported difficulty recruiting for full-time positions over the last 12 months, per SHRM's Talent Trends 2025. If the inbox is the problem, a standalone ATS is the upgrade. If outreach filled the roles that mattered, add a sourcing tool.
How much screening should the AI do?
The average recruiter now handles 291 applications per hire, against roughly 100 in early 2021, per Ashby's 2026 Talent Trends Report (April 2026). Rippling's AI reviews applications and takes notes on interviews, but it does not run the interview.
Greenhouse runs a first conversation by voice. The Cognitive runs a live two-way video interview and returns a scored report. Decide which step you will hand to software, and keep a person on every rejection.
Do you want a published price or a quote?
Rippling Recruiting, Greenhouse, Lever, Pinpoint and Teamtailor all quote. Workable, Ashby's entry plan, BambooHR and The Cognitive show prices on their sites, and Gem shows a startup tier. A published price lets you build a business case in an afternoon. A quote can still win on terms, so get two before you sign.
The 9 best Rippling Recruiting alternatives, reviewed
1. The Cognitive: best for sourcing-led hiring beside your ATS
Verdict: Rippling posts the job and tracks who applies; The Cognitive goes after the people who never see the ad, then interviews them first.
You start with a plain-English brief, for example a senior backend engineer with Go and payments experience in the EU. The Cognitive turns it into search filters you can edit. It searches about 900M public profiles, ten people to a page. Each person carries a short "Why this match" line tying them to your brief.
Revealing a contact returns a verified personal email, or a phone number on higher plans, enriched from 30+ sources. Outreach goes out as email from your own Gmail or Outlook, with your signature. When a candidate replies, the follow-ups stop.
The AI interview is a live two-way video call, set to 10 or 20 minutes per role. The AI interviewer asks role questions and follows up on each answer. It flags signs of cheating, and you get a scored report against your criteria. Nothing is auto-rejected; you review every candidate.
The Cognitive connects with 100+ ATS, so on the right plan, candidates can move into the ATS you run. That is the trade-off for a Rippling customer: you still keep an ATS for job posts, applications, offers and onboarding. If that ATS is Rippling Recruiting, ask us whether it is among the 100+ before you rely on a sync. Search depth is compared in our ranking of AI sourcing tools, and the interview is described on the AI interviewer page.
Best for: founders, in-house recruiters and agencies whose hard roles go to people who never applied.
Watch out for: it is not an ATS or an HR and payroll system, so there is no job posting, offer or onboarding. Email outreach and ATS sync come on higher plans. Candidates take the interview on a laptop or desktop, not a phone.
Pricing model: published monthly plans with credits. AI Sourcing and AI Interview each start at $99 a month, and a 20-minute interview uses 100 credits.
2. Greenhouse: best for structured hiring with a voice AI first interview

Verdict: Greenhouse is the most complete standalone ATS here, and the only one besides The Cognitive with an AI interview that is live today.
Greenhouse's homepage reads "Hiring. Orchestrated." and promises "Sourcing, interviewing and ATS solutions in one place". Its sourcing draws on "qualified job seekers for each role, from millions already in MyGreenhouse". That is its own job-seeker network rather than an open profile search, so Find scores half. Sourcing and CRM sit in the Core plan, and Plus adds sourcing automation.
For screening, "Greenhouse Voice AI provides a structured first conversation". Real Talent watches for fraud, and Notetaker captures interviews. Next to Rippling, you lose the HR link and gain depth in structured interviews and scorecards. Price detail is in Greenhouse pricing, and the field around it in Greenhouse alternatives.
Best for: companies with many interviewers per role that want every one of them scoring the same way.
Watch out for: every plan goes through a demo, and its AI interviewer talks by voice, with no video.
Pricing model: three plans (Core, Plus and Pro), each quoted after a demo.
3. Workable: best self-serve ATS with a sourcing agent built in

Verdict: Workable gives a Rippling Recruiting buyer a standalone ATS with outbound sourcing, bought online without a sales call.
Workable describes itself as "agentic software for recruiting and HR", where "an AI agent sources, screens and engages candidates inside the Workable ATS". The sourcing agent "searches 400M+ profiles" and sends each person "a personalised message". That fills Rippling's biggest gap inside the ATS itself.
The interview side is thinner. Video interviews are an add-on and are recorded one way, so the interview column stays at zero. Texting and assessments are add-ons too, and the sourcing agent uses AI credits. More options in the same band are in Workable alternatives.
Best for: teams leaving Rippling Recruiting that want sourcing inside the ATS and a price they can see before talking to anyone.
Watch out for: add-ons and AI credits change the real bill, so price the plan you will actually run.
Pricing model: plans by company size, monthly or annual, with paid add-ons; prices are published.
4. Gem: best for teams that want ATS, CRM and sourcing in one product

Verdict: Gem is built for recruiting teams that live in outbound, with an ATS attached if they want one.
Gem's pitch is "Source, review, hire, and report. All in one place, in the blink of AI." Its AI Sourcing Agent searches "800M+ profiles" and reaches people "with verified contact info". Sequences run across several channels, and the product also covers application review, fraud checks, scheduling and analytics.
Gem sells two ways. "Gem + Your ATS" layers sourcing and CRM on an existing system, priced by your company's FTE count. Gem All-in-One replaces the ATS, and companies under 30 employees get it free for six months.
There is no AI-run interview on its site. Compare it with similar tools in Gem alternatives.
Best for: sourcing-heavy teams that want CRM, sequences and tracking from one vendor.
Watch out for: outside the startup program, pricing is custom, and you still need another tool for an AI interview.
Pricing model: custom pricing by FTE count; a startup tier is shown on the site.
5. Ashby: best all-in-one ATS for scaling teams that live in their analytics

Verdict: Ashby suits fast-growing companies that want one recruiting system with strong reporting, and are happy to keep HR elsewhere.
Ashby calls itself "all-in-one recruiting software with AI embedded in every layer", covering "ATS, CRM & Sourcing, Scheduling, and Analytics". Outbound runs on automated multi-touch sequences. Sourcing works through a Chrome extension, sourcing projects and email lookups rather than its own profile database, so Find scores half.
Its live AI features are application review, scheduling and an AI notetaker. Ashby has announced an AI Interviewer with a launch event. Until it is live, it scores zero here, so check Ashby's site for its status. More on the trade-offs is in Ashby alternatives.
Best for: scaling startups and mid-sized teams that want ATS, CRM, scheduling and analytics in one login.
Watch out for: the published Foundations plan covers companies up to 100 employees; larger plans are quoted.
Pricing model: Foundations shown on the site with a discount for annual terms; Plus and Enterprise by quote.
6. Lever: best ATS and CRM for nurturing candidates over months

Verdict: Lever is a sound choice when the job is keeping warm candidates warm, less so when you need to find new ones.
Lever says it "is a modern applicant tracking system (ATS) and recruiting CRM that helps companies attract, nurture, and hire top talent faster". Its homepage line is "Hiring That Doesn't Hijack Your Week". Nurture sequences reach people already in your CRM, and AI covers screening, transcripts, summaries and fraud signals.
Lever's site names no tool for searching people outside your CRM, so Find scores zero. It ties Pinpoint on 2 and ranks above it alphabetically. Add-ons include AI Screening by VONQ and onboarding. Our Lever alternatives page goes further.
Best for: growing teams with long hiring cycles who rely on past applicants and silver medallists.
Watch out for: new names still have to come from somewhere else.
Pricing model: customized quote, with add-ons priced separately.
7. Pinpoint: best for companies hiring across several brands or streams at once

Verdict: Pinpoint fits employers running graduate, hourly and professional hiring side by side, each with its own process.
Pinpoint bills itself as "the ATS built for multi-stream hiring". Talent pools with nurture campaigns, a sourcing browser extension, one-way video interviews and an AI Hiring Copilot sit on top of the core ATS.
The sourcing extension and the talent-pool nurture each count as half a point, the one-way video scores zero, and the ATS scores one, which is how it lands on 2. Against Rippling, the gain is control over several distinct hiring processes in one standalone system. The loss is the automatic handoff into HR records.
Best for: mid-sized and large employers with several hiring streams or brands.
Watch out for: its video interviews are one-way recordings, not a live conversation.
Pricing model: pricing on request.
8. Teamtailor: best for employer brand and career sites

Verdict: Teamtailor is for companies that win candidates with their story, and want a career site that tells it well.
Teamtailor calls itself "the ATS behind great hiring", with a career site, a talent pool and Teamtailor AI that "surfaces matches, drafts job ads, summarises CVs". Plans come with "unlimited job postings and unlimited users", which helps when every hiring manager wants a login.
It does not search for people outside your talent pool, and its outreach reaches people already in it. If your career site matters as much as your ATS, Teamtailor is the upgrade. Other options are in Teamtailor alternatives.
Best for: brand-led employers that want a strong career site with the ATS behind it.
Watch out for: outbound sourcing needs another tool.
Pricing model: quote, with unlimited users and job postings.
9. BambooHR: best for small businesses replacing Rippling as the whole HR system

Verdict: BambooHR is the like-for-like swap: an HR system with an ATS inside, for teams leaving Rippling altogether.
BambooHR sells itself as complete HR software for people, payroll and benefits. Its ATS promises hiring "from job posting to onboarding", with offer letters and e-signature, self-scheduling and "150+ integrations". It scores the same as Rippling Recruiting because it does the same kind of job.
Its edge over Rippling is price clarity. BambooHR publishes per-employee prices for Core, Pro and Elite, with automatic volume discounts, and job-opening limits rise by plan. Figures are in BambooHR pricing, and it is set against a standalone ATS in Greenhouse vs BambooHR.
Best for: small and mid-sized businesses that want HR, payroll and basic hiring from one vendor.
Watch out for: it has no outbound sourcing or AI interview, and lower plans cap open jobs.
Pricing model: per employee per month, published, with volume discounts.
Leaving Rippling altogether? HR suites to compare
If payroll and HR are leaving Rippling too, these are the suites buyers most often weigh against it.
- BambooHR: best for small and mid-sized businesses that want HR, payroll and an ATS together. Per-employee prices are published.
- Gusto: best for teams that put payroll first; it "handles payroll, HR, and more in a snap" and lists an applicant tracking product. Plan prices are published.
- HiBob: best for companies that want HR, payroll and finance in "one AI-powered platform", with hiring and onboarding among its features.
- Deel: best for international teams; its line is "Hire, manage, pay, & equip anyone, anywhere." Per-worker prices are published.
- Paylocity, Justworks and Paychex: the other HR and payroll suites most often compared with Rippling. Paylocity also sells its own recruiting module.
What you would be leaving, module by module, is set out in Rippling pricing.
When is The Cognitive the wrong Rippling alternative?
The Cognitive earns its place on roles where the right people are not applying. It is the wrong first buy when:
- You want one system of record in place of Rippling Recruiting. You need job posts, applications and offers. Greenhouse, Workable or Ashby come first.
- A signed offer must start onboarding and payroll. Staying on Rippling Recruiting, or moving to BambooHR, keeps that in one system.
- Your inbox already overflows with qualified applicants. Screening is the bottleneck, and an ATS with strong screening does more than a sourcing tool.
- Your candidates live on their phones. Our interview runs on a laptop or desktop, which suits office roles better than shift work.
- You need outreach and ATS sync on the entry plan. Both come on higher plans.
How do you switch off Rippling Recruiting without losing candidates?
- Decide what stays on Rippling. If payroll and benefits work, keep them, and replace only the recruiting layer.
- Get your history out first. Pull candidate records, notes and stage history before the contract ends, and ask Rippling which format you will receive.
- Let live roles finish where they started. Open new roles in the new tool, so no candidate is mid-process in two systems.
- Test the hire handoff. Map your stages, then push one test hire into Rippling HR and check it arrives before you rely on it.
A good first test is one open role your Rippling job ad has not filled. Give it to two shortlisted tools for two weeks. Then count the people who reached a final interview, and the recruiter hours each tool took.
If that role calls for outreach, try The Cognitive free for 7 days with no card. The trial comes with 100 sourcing credits and 2 AI interviews. That is enough for one search, a handful of personal emails and two first interviews. Start free with The Cognitive.
For applicant tracking on its own, see our ranking of applicant tracking systems. Founders and small teams should also read recruiting software for startups and hiring software for small business.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best Rippling alternatives for recruiting?
The best Rippling alternatives for recruiting are The Cognitive for sourcing-led hiring, plus Greenhouse, Workable, Gem and Ashby as standalone ATS options. The Cognitive searches about 900M public profiles, emails people from your own Gmail or Outlook, interviews them by live AI video and connects with 100+ ATS. Greenhouse, Workable, Gem and Ashby are full applicant tracking systems that do not need an HR platform underneath.
Who are Rippling's main competitors?
As an HR suite, Rippling competes with BambooHR, Gusto, HiBob, Deel, Paylocity, Justworks and Paychex. For recruiting, its competitors are applicant tracking systems such as Greenhouse, Workable, Ashby, Gem and Lever. BambooHR, Gusto and Deel publish prices on their sites. For sourcing and AI interviews beside any of them, The Cognitive is the end-to-end option.
Can I use Rippling Recruiting without Rippling HRIS?
No, Rippling's own FAQ says Rippling Recruiting requires the base HRIS platform. The reverse works, though: Rippling sells each product separately on top of its core platform, so you can run Rippling HR with a different recruiting tool. Teams either move applicant tracking to a standalone ATS, or keep Rippling Recruiting and add a sourcing and interview tool such as The Cognitive.
Is there a cheaper way to hire than Rippling Recruiting?
Often, yes, because Rippling Recruiting is quoted per employee per month on top of the required Rippling platform. Workable, Ashby's Foundations plan and BambooHR publish their prices, and The Cognitive starts at $99 a month. Which is cheaper depends on headcount and hiring volume. What Rippling does publish is in our guide to Rippling pricing.
Does Rippling Recruiting have an AI interviewer?
Not a live one: Rippling's Interview Assistant records, transcribes and summarizes interviews your team runs. In January 2026, sponsored content from Rippling listed AI Video Screens as coming soon, based on one-way asynchronous video responses. For an AI-run interview today, Greenhouse offers a voice first conversation and The Cognitive runs a live two-way video interview of 10 or 20 minutes.
What is the best all-in-one recruiting software?
For applicants, Greenhouse comes closest to all in one; for people you go out and find, The Cognitive is the only platform here that does it end to end. Greenhouse tracks applicants, runs sourcing and CRM, and opens with a voice AI conversation. The Cognitive sources, emails from your own mailbox, runs a live AI video interview and syncs with your ATS, but it does not post jobs or send offers.
Is Greenhouse or Workable better than Rippling for recruiting?
Both are deeper recruiting tools than Rippling Recruiting, while Rippling wins if hiring must flow straight into HR and payroll. Greenhouse adds structured interviews, sourcing and CRM, and a voice AI first conversation, sold by quote. Workable adds a sourcing agent that searches 400M+ profiles, with published prices. Neither needs an HR system underneath; see Greenhouse alternatives and Workable alternatives.
Can Gem replace Rippling Recruiting?
Yes, Gem All-in-One can replace Rippling Recruiting as your ATS, or Gem + Your ATS can sit on top of the one you keep. Gem adds what Rippling lacks for outbound: an AI Sourcing Agent over 800M+ profiles and multi-channel sequences. It has no AI-run interview, and outside its startup program the price is custom by FTE count.
