Job Description Templates for 50+ Roles
This hub holds free, copy-ready job description templates for 50 roles, grouped by job function. Each one has an about-the-role paragraph, 6 to 8 responsibilities, requirements, nice-to-haves and a what-we-offer outline. Pick the closest role, then edit the requirements to match your team.
Every template comes with notes on how to customize it and how to evaluate candidates against it. Roles are grouped by function below, each group with a one-line note on what its templates stress. If your role is not listed, start from the nearest one or generate a custom JD with the free AI generator. The Cognitive turns any of these into hiring: it sources candidates from ~900M public profiles and interviews them against the description.
How to pick and adapt a template
- Match the work, not the title: if your "product engineer" writes backend code all day, start from the backend template.
- Cut the requirements to the 4 or 5 a person must have on day one, and move the rest to nice-to-haves.
- Name the seniority, location and working pattern in the first paragraph so the wrong applicants self-select out.
- Use the same must-haves later as the screening criteria, so the JD and the interview judge the same things.
