What LinkedIn Recruiter cost actually covers
LinkedIn publishes no LinkedIn Recruiter cost for any plan. Recruiter Lite is bought online and priced at checkout once you sign in; the other 3 plans are quoted by sales. What LinkedIn does publish is the entitlement per seat: network reach, filters, profile views and InMail credits.
The honest answer, before anything else
LinkedIn prints no price for Recruiter. Its own Recruiter page says pricing varies with company size and seat count, and routes you to sales. Recruiter Lite is the one plan you can buy yourself, and its price appears at checkout after you sign in.
Why LinkedIn Recruiter pricing has no rate card on this page
Search LinkedIn Recruiter pricing 2026 and you will find confident numbers everywhere. None come from LinkedIn. They are figures individual buyers were once quoted, under a seat count, plan and contract year you cannot see, and the pages repeating them disagree on the same line. A stale LinkedIn Recruiter price dressed as a rate card is worse than an honest gap.
So there are exactly 2 routes to a real figure. For Recruiter Lite, sign in and read the checkout, which is where LinkedIn's own product page and help centre send you. For Recruiter Professional Services, RPS Plus and Recruiter, it is a quote. Everything else on this page is the part LinkedIn does publish in full, which is what each seat is entitled to.

How InMail credits actually work
- An allotment lands per seat, per month 30 on Recruiter Lite, 100 on RPS, 140 on RPS Plus, 150 on Recruiter. LinkedIn says the refresh runs once a month from the date your account was created, not from the calendar month.
- Credits pool across the whole account LinkedIn describes the allotment as pooled across seats, so 150 times your seat count on Recruiter, and an active recruiter can draw more than their own share. On Lite they are shared across the contract and cannot be assigned to one person.
- Answered messages come back to you Any InMail accepted, declined or responded to within 90 days of being sent is credited back, and LinkedIn counts a Quick Reply as a response. A message still pending is neither accepted nor declined, so it stays spent. A reply of any kind returns the credit. Silence does not.
- Unused credits roll over, up to a ceiling Leftovers carry into next month, but LinkedIn caps the account at 4 times your monthly allotment. Anything that would push the balance past that ceiling does not roll over and expires.
- You can buy more, but Lite caps how many On Recruiter Lite the Purchaser Admin buys extra credits in packs of 10, maximum 70 per seat, and a Lite contract cannot exceed 120 InMails per seat. The LinkedIn Recruiter fee for volume outreach has a ceiling on Lite. The paid plans publish no cap.
The renewal rule that costs Recruiter Lite buyers credits
LinkedIn's worked example for Recruiter Lite: hold 115 InMails on 1 seat at renewal and you receive only 5. The other 25 are skipped and non-recoverable. You need 30 credits available per seat to get the full allotment.
LinkedIn Recruiter Lite cost, and what the entry plan includes
Recruiter Lite is the only plan you can buy without talking to anyone. LinkedIn sells the LinkedIn Recruiter Lite subscription online as a monthly or yearly term, cancellable at any time, with a possible free trial on a first signup. It is not available to members in China. That self-serve route is why a LinkedIn Recruiter Lite cost is the one figure a buyer can check today.
A Lite team starts with 1 included licence for a recruiter or administrator, then adds up to 4 more people at extra cost, for 5 seats in total. At that size LinkedIn gives you a multi-user dashboard, shared projects, @mentions in notes, message sharing and recruiting activity. LinkedIn's comparison page puts Lite at 2,000 unique profile views a day, and the help centre caps search alerts at 10 per seat.
Filters that separate the person from their employer
A plain English brief parsed into filters, grouped by what the person has done and where they work now.
A filter count is a poor proxy for reach. What matters is whether the filters can tell a skill the person has from a tool their employer runs. On The Cognitive, one line about the hire becomes structured filters in 2 groups: about the person, and about their current employer.
What a LinkedIn Recruiter license actually is
Recruiter licence, or seat A per-seat subscription. Entitlements are granted per seat per month, so a LinkedIn Recruiter license cost or LinkedIn Recruiter licence cost is a seat count question first. LinkedIn's help centre names 4 plans, none called LinkedIn Recruiter corporate license.
One difference bites later. LinkedIn states that on Lite the data is owned by the Purchaser Admin, while on the 3 paid plans it is owned by and stays with your company. Check that line before a contractor holds the licence.
Work out your own number before you take the quote
- Count the roles you will source for in a year, not the seats you assume you need
- Count candidates you must contact per hire, then divide by 30 to test Lite
- Check whether your actual targets sit inside your 3rd-degree network at all
- Ask whether you need ATS write-back, which Lite does not offer
- Decide whether more than 5 people need a seat, which Lite cannot do
- Ask for the per-seat rate and the contract term as separate lines
- Confirm what happens to your candidate data when the contract ends
Reading a LinkedIn Recruiter quote
Do
- Ask which of the 4 plans the quote covers, since RPS and RPS Plus differ on unlocks and InMails
- Check the InMail allotment written in the quote against the published 30, 100, 140 and 150 schedule
- Ask for the per-seat rate and the term stated separately, not folded into one total
- Export your candidate data before any Lite cancellation, which LinkedIn flags as permanent data deletion
Do not
- Treating a figure from a blog as your price when LinkedIn publishes none
- Assuming Recruiter Lite includes ATS integration or AI features, because it includes neither
- Assuming you can buy unlimited extra InMails, when purchases are capped per seat
- Assuming a large banked InMail balance survives your renewal date intact
One InMail credit, from arrival to expiry
| Moment | What LinkedIn says happens |
|---|---|
| It arrives | Once a month, per seat, starting on the date your account was created |
| It is spent | You send an InMail. The credit leaves the shared pool, not one person's balance |
| Someone replies inside 90 days | Accepted, declined or responded to, including a Quick Reply, and the credit is returned |
| Nobody replies | A pending message counts as neither accepted nor declined, so the credit stays spent |
| It is unused at month end | It rolls over, unless the balance would pass 4 times your monthly allotment, in which case it expires |
| You buy extras on Lite | Packs of 10, maximum 70 extra per seat, and a Lite contract cannot exceed 120 per seat |
| Your Lite cycle renews | Purchased credits never expire, but the 120 per seat Lite cap trims the incoming allotment |
When Recruiter Lite pricing stops adding up
There are 5 conditions, and they are all checkable against the published entitlements rather than against anyone's opinion. You run out of 30 InMails a month before you run out of candidates worth writing to. Your targets sit outside your 3rd-degree network, so you cannot reach them at all. A 6th person needs a seat.
The other 2 are systems questions. You need candidates written back into an applicant tracking system, which Lite does not integrate with. Or you need the spotlights and AI features that LinkedIn lists only on the paid plans, such as the Open to Work and More Likely to Respond spotlights on Recruiter. Any one of those makes linkedin recruiter lite pricing the wrong thing to be comparing.
A shortlist that does not reset when a search does
A shortlist with identities masked until a contact is revealed, and a No email found state beside the revealed rows.
A seat meters what you can see and send inside one network. A per-candidate model meters something else. On The Cognitive, candidate identities stay masked until a recruiter reveals a contact, verified email and phone are revealed as separate fields, and a reveal that returns nothing shows as No email found.
Per seat, or per candidate
A seat prices access. You buy reach into a network and a monthly allowance of messages inside it, and the arithmetic works when hiring is steady and the people you want are already connected to the people you already know. That is the model LinkedIn publishes entitlements for, and the entitlements above are the honest way to test whether it fits your year.
The Cognitive is shaped the other way, around candidates rather than seats. Sourcing runs across ~900M profiles from a one-line brief, requirements are set as Must have, Prioritise or Preferred, and open roles are re-scanned overnight. Follow-up runs as email and SMS in the recruiter's name and stops when someone replies. Start free at https://app.thecognitive.io/signup, or watch a run at /try-interview.

Frequently asked questions
How much does LinkedIn Recruiter cost?
LinkedIn does not publish a figure. Its own Recruiter page states that pricing varies based on your organization's needs, such as company size and number of Recruiter seats, and every route on that page goes to its sales team. The help centre says the same: contact sales for Recruiter, RPS and RPS Plus. So anyone asking how much is LinkedIn Recruiter has one honest answer, which is that the number comes from a quote.
How much is LinkedIn Recruiter Lite?
Recruiter Lite, LinkedIn's entry plan, is the one with a self-serve price, and LinkedIn shows it at checkout rather than on its marketing pages. The product page and the help centre both route you to sign in and buy. LinkedIn says Lite can be purchased online as a monthly or yearly subscription and that you can cancel at any time, so the cost of LinkedIn Recruiter Lite is whatever the signed-in checkout quotes you for your term.
What is the difference between LinkedIn Recruiter and Recruiter Lite?
Reach and volume, mainly. Lite reaches up to your 3rd-degree connections with 20 filters and 30 InMails per seat per month. Recruiter gets full access to the network, 40+ filters and 150 InMails per seat. Lite also caps at 5 seats, has no ATS integration, no AI features and no free collaborator licences, where the paid plans include 20 collaborator licences per Recruiter licence.
Is there a LinkedIn Recruiter free trial?
For Recruiter Lite, sometimes. LinkedIn states that if it is your first time signing up you may be eligible for a free trial, which makes it conditional rather than guaranteed. The full Recruiter, RPS and RPS Plus plans have no self-serve trial documented; those go through the sales team. Check the eligibility wording at checkout before you plan around a LinkedIn Recruiter Lite free trial.
How much is a LinkedIn Recruiter license?
No rate is published for any plan, so a LinkedIn Recruiter license cost is quoted rather than listed. What LinkedIn does publish is what a licence entitles you to per seat per month: network reach, filter count, profile views and InMail credits. One further difference matters at renewal time. On Lite the data is owned by the Purchaser Admin, while on the paid plans it stays with your company.
How many InMails do you get with LinkedIn Recruiter?
30 per seat per month on Recruiter Lite, 100 on Recruiter Professional Services, 140 on RPS Plus and 150 on Recruiter. LinkedIn pools those allotments across the seats on your account, so an active recruiter can use more than their own share. Messages accepted, declined or responded to within 90 days are credited back, and unused credits roll over up to 4 times your monthly allotment.
Can you buy extra InMail credits on Recruiter Lite?
Yes, within limits. LinkedIn says the Purchaser Admin can buy additional credits in packs of 10, to a maximum of 70 extra per seat, and that your contract cannot exceed 120 InMails per seat. Purchased credits never expire. The catch is the renewal rule: if your balance sits near 120 per seat when the cycle renews, the incoming monthly allotment is trimmed and the difference is not recoverable.
How many seats does LinkedIn Recruiter Lite support?
Up to 5. LinkedIn describes setting up a team starting with one included licence for a recruiter or administrator, then adding licences for up to 4 more team members at extra cost. At that size the multi-user dashboard, shared projects, @mentions in notes, message sharing and recruiting activity are all available. A 6th seat means moving to one of the plans that goes through sales.
Can I cancel LinkedIn Recruiter Lite?
Yes. LinkedIn says you can cancel a Recruiter Lite subscription at any time, and its help centre publishes articles on changing the billing cycle, updating billing details, viewing receipts, and adding, parking or reassigning licences. One warning is worth heeding: LinkedIn flags the cancellation article itself as permanent data deletion, so export anything you need out of the account first.
