Two kinds of customer, two kinds of pipeline

An agency runs two funnels at once. It has to win job orders from clients and fill them with candidates, and its revenue depends on both. Bullhorn is built around that double pipeline: the same platform tracks business development, client contacts and placements, and it adds AI that sources, screens and runs outreach for the recruiter desk.

An in-house team has one customer, the hiring manager down the hall. Ashby is built around that: structured interview plans, panel scheduling, feedback, headcount tracking and deep reporting so the talent team can show leadership where hiring stalls. Its AI is framed as assistive, built to help people decide faster rather than decide for them.

  2. Ashby: interview and decide Interview plan automation sends booking links, the notetaker summarises each conversation, and feedback summaries cite the original notes for the debrief.
  3. Bullhorn: win the order The job starts as a client deal in the recruitment CRM. Amplify Chat can research target companies and answer questions inside Bullhorn without sending data to outside chat tools.
  4. Bullhorn: fill it with agents Search and Match ranks candidates by likelihood of hire. Digital Workers screen, enrich records, run multi-step outreach and build client-ready submission packets.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ashby or Bullhorn better for a recruitment agency?

Bullhorn is built for recruitment and staffing firms: it tracks clients and candidates together, adds a sales pipeline on higher plans and, in Bullhorn One, runs timesheets and billing. Ashby is built for in-house teams. An agency can technically use it, but its pages describe no client pipeline or contractor back office.

Is Bullhorn an ATS or a CRM?

Both. Bullhorn's own FAQ says it combines applicant tracking and a recruitment CRM in one platform, with automation, analytics and AI on top, plus middle and back office products in North America. Ashby also combines ATS and CRM, but its CRM is about candidate relationships rather than client sales.

Ashby vs Bullhorn pricing: how does each charge?

Ashby prices by company size, usage and commitment, with a published calculator for companies up to 100 employees and quotes above that. Bullhorn prices per user per month, publishes figures for its two entry plans, and quotes its AI plans, larger agency editions and Recruitment Cloud. Our Bullhorn pricing page goes further.

Does Bullhorn have AI interviews?

Bullhorn's pricing page lists a Screen skill among its Amplify Digital Workers, described as interviewing candidates and generating summaries, and Bullhorn Max lists agentic screening. The channel is not stated there. Ashby's pages describe AI application review and an AI notetaker for human interviews, not an AI interviewer.

Can Ashby and Bullhorn integrate with each other?

Neither site describes a direct connection on the pages read. They usually sit on opposite sides: a company on Ashby works with agencies, some of which run Bullhorn. Ashby's Agency Collaboration lets those agencies submit into the company's jobs with scoped access.

Which has more integrations, Ashby or Bullhorn?

Bullhorn states 300+ pre-integrated technology partners in its marketplace. Ashby states 250+ out of the box integrations across assessments, job boards, sourcing, interviewing and post-hire tools. Both also offer an API, so check that the specific tools you use are on each list.

Is Bullhorn good for small agencies?

Bullhorn sells plans aimed at small agencies, starting with applicant tracking, client management and a career portal, with free implementation listed. Higher small agency tiers add the marketplace, custom workflows, LinkedIn integrations and Amplify AI. Ashby's small company plan targets in-house teams of up to 100 employees.
