Greenhouse vs Zoho Recruit for teams watching cost and process
Greenhouse vs Zoho Recruit is mostly about budget and how much structure your interviews need. Pick Zoho Recruit if you want to start free, pay per recruiter license and customise workflows yourself. Pick Greenhouse if interview kits, scorecards, fraud checks and a structured process across many interviewers matter more than the price tag.

How buying Zoho Recruit works, step by step
Taken from Zoho Recruit's pricing page and FAQ. Greenhouse's route, by contrast, starts with a demo and a custom quote.
- Trial everything Sign up without a card and use all Enterprise features for 15 days. Afterwards the account moves to the Forever Free plan and keeps your data.
- Pick a license tier Free allows 1 active job per recruiter license, Standard 10 and Enterprise 20. Zia Matches, portals, Blueprint and advanced analytics sit in Enterprise.
- License the hiring managers Employee licenses let hiring managers and staff use referral and review features. They are sold in packs of 10.
- Add what you need Video interviews are bought per job opening, and a vendor portal for outside recruiters is a separate add-on. Add-ons are not available on the Free edition.
- Change at any time Upgrade or downgrade inside the app, and claim a full refund within 45 days of buying a paid edition if it is not working out.
Breadth for the price, or depth in the interview
Zoho Recruit packs a lot into a self serve product: job posting to 75+ boards, a branded careers site with a chatbot, assessments, automation with Blueprints and Workflows, and portals for clients, vendors and candidates. Its AI runs on Zia, Zoho's own model, which Zoho says runs in its own data centers and does not train on customer data.
Greenhouse spends its features on what happens between application and offer. Hiring plans generate interview stages, questions and scorecard attributes. Notetaker records and transcribes interviews and maps notes to scorecard questions. Summaries show where interviewers disagree. It is narrower, and it costs a sales conversation to find out how much.
Which one fits which company
4 company profiles and the pick each usually lands on, with the caveat to check.
A 15 person startup with one founder doing all the hiring and almost no budget.
Zoho Recruit. The Forever Free plan covers candidate management, email and interview scheduling for 1 active job per license.
Sourcing, premium job boards and assessments start on Standard.
A 120 person company already running Zoho People and other Zoho apps.
Zoho Recruit. It sits in the same suite, and Zoho People appears among its featured integrations.
Hiring manager access needs employee license packs of 10.
A 600 person company hiring 100 engineers a year through 5 round interview loops.
Greenhouse. Kits, scorecards and Notetaker across every tier keep many interviewers consistent.
Fraud detection starts on Plus, so price that tier if fake applicants are a problem.
A group that runs an in-house team and a small staffing arm placing contractors with clients.
Zoho Recruit, which sells a separate Staffing edition with client portals, beside its Corporate edition.
Greenhouse's pages describe employer hiring only, with no client or staffing edition.
What to price before you compare totals
A per license figure and a custom quote are different units. These items make them comparable.
- Number of recruiter licenses at the Zoho tier you need
- Packs of 10 employee licenses for every hiring manager who must log in
- Zoho video interview add-on for each job opening that needs it
- Zoho data migration, which its FAQ says is priced separately
- The Greenhouse tier that holds texting, fraud detection or the BI Connector
- Greenhouse Voice AI, which is sold as its own product
- Any assessment or video tool you would add to Greenhouse from its directory
Greenhouse and Zoho Recruit in day to day use
A Zoho Recruit admin often configures the system themselves: a Blueprint for the approval steps, workflows that send emails as candidates move, and a careers site the chatbot answers questions on. Recruiters lean on AI Assist for job descriptions and messages, and Zia summaries for a quick read of each profile.
A Greenhouse recruiter inherits more structure out of the box. Interviewers receive a kit, scorecards land in a standard format, reminders go to candidates automatically, and debriefs start from comparable evidence. Configuration still happens, but most of it is choosing questions and attributes, not building process logic.

Frequently asked questions
Is Zoho Recruit better than Greenhouse?
For a small or budget conscious team, Zoho Recruit often fits better: a free plan, published per license pricing and a lot of customisation. For a company where many interviewers need to score candidates consistently, Greenhouse's structured interview tools are deeper. Decide by how complex your interview process is.
Greenhouse vs Zoho Recruit pricing: which is cheaper?
Zoho Recruit publishes per recruiter license pricing, has a Forever Free plan and sells add-ons such as employee license packs and video interviews separately. Greenhouse prints no price at all and builds a custom quote for each buyer. Zoho is usually the easier one to start cheaply; get a Greenhouse quote to compare totals.
Is Zoho Recruit a good alternative to Greenhouse?
It is a common lower cost alternative. It covers job posting, a careers site, assessments, automation, AI matching on its Enterprise tier and a mobile app. What you give up is Greenhouse's interview kits and scorecards on every plan, its fraud detection and Voice AI.
Does Zoho Recruit have a free plan?
Yes. The Forever Free plan includes 1 active job per recruiter license, candidate management, email management, interview scheduling and support during business hours. Add-ons are not available on it. Greenhouse lists no free plan; all 3 of its tiers start with a demo.
Does Zoho Recruit have AI like Greenhouse?
Both have AI, built differently. Zoho Recruit uses Zia, its own LLM, for candidate matching, AI assessments, chatbots, profile summaries and transcripts of recorded video interviews in 8 languages. Greenhouse offers Voice AI first interviews, Talent Matching, Notetaker, AI hiring plans and fraud detection.
Can Zoho Recruit be used by staffing agencies?
Yes. Zoho sells a Staffing edition with client and vendor portals beside the Corporate edition for in-house teams. Greenhouse's pages describe hiring for your own company only.
Is it easy to move from Zoho Recruit to Greenhouse?
Plan it as a project. Candidate records, jobs, templates, workflows and integrations all need moving or rebuilding. Ask Greenhouse what it imports from Zoho Recruit and how long a migration took for a company your size, and export your Zoho data before the subscription ends.
